Haven Home Care | Hiring Home Health Aides in Summit County, Ohio
Most of our home health aides work with 2-4 regular clients. The same people, week after week. You learn their routine. They learn to trust you. One home health aide has been here 18 years. This isn't shift work where you never see the same face twice. You build something real.
What The Work IsYou go to people's homes and help with daily life. Mostly older adults. Baths, getting dressed, meals, light cleaning, errands, companionship. This is physical work. You help people move around and you're on your feet most of the day. If you need help doing these tasks, tell us. We can talk about what might work.
You do not give medicine or do medical tasks. That's for nurses.
The Pay- STNA license: $18/hour - HHA certificate or experience: $16-18/hour based on interview - Free training pathway: $16/hour - A private pay client you referred: HHA $19/hour, STNA $20/hour 10% extra on holidays. Paid every 2 weeks. Direct deposit. W-2 job. Drive time between clients is paid. Drive time to your first client or from your last is not.
Your pay goes up three raises in your first 2 years, based on performance: +$0.50 at 90 days, +$0.50 more at 1 year, +$1.00 more at 2 years. That's $2.00/hour more if you hit all three. Miss one? It carries over. You can still earn it. Hit the standard and the raise is automatic — we don't hold it back from good home health aides.
MoreWays To Earn
- $100 after 30 days with perfect attendance.
- $300 when you refer a home health aide who stays — $100 at 60 hours, $200 more at 200 hours.
- $75-$1,500 when you refer a private pay client, based on their hours.
1. STNA (active or expired): $18/hour. 1-3 days. You skip our test. 2. HHA certificate (30+ hours, signed by RN unless done online): $16-18/hour. 5-8 days.
3. Experience — 1+ year at one company under an RN or LPN (nursing home, hospital, skilled home health, assisted living with nurses): $16-18/hour. 5-8 days after we verify. 4. No experience — we train you free (32-hour online course, 6 days to finish, not paid): $16/hour. 1-2 weeks.
Can't verify your experience? Certificate doesn't qualify? Maybe the company you worked for closed. Maybe there's no one left to call, or they only use a service like The Work Number. That's okay. You're not turned away. You can still join by taking our free online training to qualify. And because you already have a care background, your pay stays based on your interview ($16-18/hour), not the brand-new rate.
Only people with no experience at all start at $16. Every path: phone talk (20 min) → short online questionnaire → test if needed → sign paperwork online → online orientation + document check (30-40 min) → fingerprinting.
Ohio requires a written and skills test for HHAs — 80% on both parts. You take it in person at our Cuyahoga Falls office. We schedule the time with you. One thing we ask: our nurse drives to the office just for your test — nothing else. If you can't make it, text BEFORE your test time. We'll reschedule you, no problem.
But if you just don't show up, our nurse waited for nothing. We take that seriously. STNAs skip the test — your license proves you passed. Already passed an HHA test with 80% or higher somewhere else? Show us your results and you skip it too.
You tell us your limits during your phone interview: pets, smoking, travel distance, days and times. We only assign clients that match your limits. Period.
The GuaranteeIf you can travel anywhere we have clients AND work with any client — you will start working. Quickly. We always have clients somewhere. And if there's no immediate match in your area, you're first in line when one opens up.
The RealityIf you have travel limits or preferences — specific cities, certain days/times, no pets, no smoking — we respect them 100%. But your client availability will be smaller. That's not a "maybe," that's math. Example:
We have 5 clients open today, but all 5 are in Akron. If you only want Stow clients, you will wait until a Stow client opens up. Same for any limit you set. The stricter your limits, the longer the…
