Job Description

Behavioral Healthcare Provider 2 to oversee facility behavioral healthcare functions. The ideal candidate will be a strong leader with a solid background and a passion to habilitate youth.

Responsibilities
  • Within scope of licensure, provide social work services including assessments, treatment planning, individual, group, and/or family interventions/sessions, crisis intervention, liaison services, discharge and aftercare planning, etc. for assigned caseload of youth offenders.
  • Represent social and/or habilitative programming on the Interdisciplinary Treatment Team (IDT).
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with other facilities, agencies, and support services.
  • Contact parent/guardian (e.g., in emergencies, crises, transfers).
  • Access, develop, maintain, and synthesize written and/or electronic documentation to satisfy requirements of federal, state, and local agencies and comply with DYS policy, including progress notes, institutional and community reports.

Leadership, commitment to excellence, professionalism, strong interpersonal communication skills, good judgment, change agent, excellent customer service, trauma‑responsive, and solution driven.

Required Qualifications
  • Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor (LICDC) by Ohio Chemical Dependency Counselor’s Credentialing Board.
  • Or Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) by Ohio Counselor, Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy Board.
  • Or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) by Ohio Counselor, Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy Board.
  • Or Licensed Independent Marriage and Family Therapist (IMFT) by Ohio Counselor, Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy Board.
  • Or Licensed Registered Nurse with certificate of authority as a Clinical Nurse Specialist or Certified Nurse Practitioner with specialty certification in Mental Health or Psychiatry issued by Ohio Board of Nursing.

Supplemental Information

The final candidate selected for this position will be required to undergo a pre‑employment drug screening and criminal background check including results from BCI & FBI. An individual assessment of an applicant's prior criminal convictions will be made before excluding an applicant from consideration.

DYS is a “qualifying employer” for purposes of the federal Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program.

All new candidates hired to the Department of Youth Services must complete a paid mandatory 6 weeks of training. Week 1 is held at the facility; weeks 2‑4 are held at DYS Training Academy in Orient, Ohio, Monday through Thursday, 7:00 am–5:00 pm (travel, lodging, and meals are provided). Weeks 5‑6 are on the job training held at the facility.
