Location: Madison

School Based Occupational Therapist (Otr/L)

Qualifications:

  • Valid Ohio Department of Education license
  • Valid Ohio Occupational Therapist license issued by OTPTAT Board
  • School based experience preferred
  • Valid driver's license
  • Successfully pass BCI/FBI background checks

General Description:

  • Provide screening services to identify suspected delays and recommend children for occupational therapy services.
  • Functions as a member of the evaluation team to provide a multi-factored evaluation to facilitate the assessment and diagnosis to determine eligibility for occupational therapy services.
  • Participates in the decision to deliver occupational therapy services to a child and assists in development of the Individualized Educational Program.
  • Provides appropriate occupational therapy to meet students needs identified in evaluations report and as described in the IEP.
  • Plan, organize, and provide appropriate occupational therapy programs and activities to meet student needs including accommodations and modifications in the schools' environment.
  • Collaborates with other special service providers and school personnel to develop appropriate classroom activities to reinforce services being provided to children by the occupational therapist.
  • Collect, monitor, and report student progress. Use the data collected to inform therapy decisions.
  • Document occupational therapy services to ensure accountability of service provision and to meet standards for reimbursement of services as appropriate, with the district policy to meet expected deadlines.
  • Maintains appropriate procedural safeguards and records for all students receiving occupational therapy.
  • Assists in assessing and recommending assistive technology, seating/ positioning equipment, transportation, and other adaptive equipment in all school environments.
  • Provide fieldwork education and supervision for occupational therapy and occupational therapy assistant students.
  • Maintains confidentiality in all job related discussions and communications.
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Superintendent or designee.
