Postdoctoral Fellow (Oyewumi Lab)

Join Northeast Ohio Medical University's (NEOMED) Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, College of Pharmacy. NEOMED is a mission-driven, community-based medical university committed to educating health professionals, advancing discoveries, and improving the health of our region. We are seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow in the lab of Dr. Moses Oyewumi who wants to contribute meaningful work in a collaborative academic environment. The successful candidate will engage in both independent and collaborative research activities, including designing, conducting, and analyzing scientific experiments.

Strong skills in the application of in-vitro cell-based and animal models in the field of pharmaceutical or biomedical sciences are required. The candidate is expected to present research findings and maintain up-to-date knowledge of current scientific literature.

Education/Degrees:
Ph.D., or expected Ph.D. by time of appointment, in pharmaceutical sciences, biomedical sciences, bioengineering or related fields. Experience in some of the following areas is desirable: biomaterials, advanced drug delivery systems, nanoparticles, hydrogels, stability studies, protein and peptides therapeutics, bone fractures, cell culture, cell assays, animal model development, tissue collections, histology, Western blotting, ELISA, qPCR, immunohistochemistry, microscopy, and assessment of therapeutic efficacy of drug delivery systems.

Candidates that are willing to learn new techniques that they are not familiar with are welcome to apply as well.

Ability to communicate written or verbally with both non-scientific as well as scientific audiences Ability and desire to develop grantsmanship in the preparation of competitive funding proposals. works with others to accomplish goals and objectives. Self‐motivated, highly organized applicants with independent working abilities, interpersonal communication and writing skills. Continual development of professional skills.

Qualifications:

PhD in pharmaceutical sciences, biomedical sciences, bioengineering or related fields. It is desired that potential candidates would have experience in advanced drug delivery systems, pharmaceutical analytical systems and in-vitro/in-vivo efficacy assessment of drug delivery systems. Candidates are expected to check the NEOMED website and familiarize themselves with ongoing projects in Dr. Oyewumi's lab which include drug delivery systems for bone regeneration, therapeutic intervention of bone metastasis of cancers, therapeutics to combat neuroinflammation and drug delivery across the blood-brain barrier.
