We are seeking an experienced Funeral Director & Care Center Manager to provide hands-on leadership for our Care Center operations while continuing to serve families as a licensed funeral professional.
This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced Funeral Director and Embalmer who enjoys both the technical side of funeral service and leading people and operations. You'll oversee the day-to-day workflow of the Care Center, lead and develop the team, ensure exceptional standard of decedent care, and work closely with our funeral home locations to provide reliable, responsive support.
This is not a desk-only management position. The right person will be comfortable stepping in to embalm and prepare decedents when needed, solving operational challenges, developing employees, and creating processes that help the entire market operate more effectively.
What You'll DoCare Center Operations
- Lead the day-to-day operations and workflow of the Care Center.
- Ensure decedents are received, identified, tracked, cared for, and released according to established standards and procedures.
- Coordinate and prioritize embalming, preparation, dressing, cosmetology, casketing, cremation preparation, and other Care Center activities.
- Personally perform embalming, preparation, and other licensed funeral service responsibilities as needed.
- Maintain strong identification, chain-of-custody, documentation, and quality-control practices.
- Monitor workflow and capacity and proactively address delays, service issues, or changing priorities.
- Partner closely with funeral home teams to coordinate preparation deadlines, service schedules, and special family requests.
- Lead, coach, and develop Care Center and assigned funeral home team members.
- Establish clear responsibilities, performance expectations, and standards of accountability.
- Develop schedules that provide appropriate coverage while effectively managing overtime and labor needs.
- Train employees on procedures, safety requirements, quality expectations, and service standards.
- Participate in interviewing, hiring, onboarding, performance management, and employee development.
- Build a culture of teamwork, professionalism, accountability, and respect.
- Serve families with compassion, professionalism, dignity, and respect.
- Make funeral and memorial arrangements with families as assigned.
- Coordinate and direct funeral, memorial, graveside, and other services.
- Ensure required documentation, permits, authorizations, and records are completed accurately.
- Coordinate with cemeteries, clergy, crematories, vendors, and other service partners.
- Participate in funeral director coverage and the market's on-call rotation as required.
- Maintain high standards for embalming, preparation, presentation, and overall decedent care.
- Ensure compliance with applicable funeral service regulations, OSHA requirements, infection-control practices, PPE requirements, and company safety procedures.
