The Licensed Substance Use Counselor is a full-time, on-site position located in Cincinnati, OH. In this role, the counselor conducts individual and group counseling sessions, develops and updates treatment plans, and performs clinical assessments to support clients in recovery from substance use disorders. The counselor collaborates with an interdisciplinary team, maintains accurate and timely documentation, and ensures services align with regulatory and ethical standards.

Day-to-day responsibilities also include engaging families in the treatment process when appropriate, participating in case reviews, and contributing to program development and quality improvement efforts. The counselor promotes a therapeutic environment that reflects the center’s values of trust, respect, and compassion.

• Current state licensure or certification as a Substance Use Counselor (e.g., LCDC-II, LCDC-III, LICDC, or equivalent) and compliance with all applicable professional regulations.
• Demonstrated skills in individual and group counseling, treatment planning, and clinical assessment for substance use and co-occurring conditions.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and active listening skills, with the ability to build rapport and maintain professional boundaries.
• Knowledge of evidence-based practices in addiction treatment, such as CBT, motivational interviewing, and relapse prevention strategies.
• Ability to maintain accurate clinical documentation, manage caseloads effectively, and use electronic health record systems.
• Familiarity with community resources, social services, and recovery support networks to assist clients and families.
• Commitment to ethical practice, confidentiality, and culturally responsive, nonjudgmental care for diverse populations.
• Associate's, bachelor’s or master’s degree in counseling, social work, psychology, or a related behavioral health field preferred.
• Experience in residential or outpatient substance use treatment settings and willingness to participate in ongoing training and supervision.
