Hotel Housekeeping
Responsible to lead, support and direct all housekeeping and laundry department operations. Ensure maximum profitability and maintain the highest standards of the guest environment. Provide quality service and hospitality in a clean, organized, and well‑maintained property while upholding Mohican Lodge's company standards and mission. As the leader of the Housekeeping Department, your presence in your department, helping and supporting the team, is essential to our overall success.
You and your team must accept the role as ambassadors of the property for our guests, making a major impression upon their stay. Lead by example and model the right behavior for your team. Maintain a hands‑on, positive, and inspirational coaching approach to working with and supporting supervisors and associates, fostering a positive and harassment‑free work environment. Annual compensation of $40,000.00, paid bi‑weekly.
- Supervise, direct, assist, facilitate, coordinate, and verify the completion of housekeeping tasks assigned to the housekeeping staff to provide guests with the highest quality standards.
- Maintain a professional department ensuring high levels of guest and associate satisfaction.
- Participate in all required and requested hotel department meetings as per General Manager (GM).
- Create and maintain a positive work environment through team building and serve as a role model for staff in professionalism, attitude, respect, communication, appearance, conduct, cooperation, and trust.
- Uphold and enforce all company policies and procedures from the Associate Handbook.
- Schedule, assign rooms, and monitor the productivity of housekeeping staff.
- Monitor performance of subordinate housekeeping staff, providing organization, guidance, communication, and sound judgment.
- Process work orders through proper channels and handle all guest needs and requests.
- Report emergency maintenance issues to the engineering department promptly.
- Conduct inventories of furniture, fixtures, equipment, and guest supplies as requested or needed.
- Ensure carts, closets, and equipment are kept safe, clean, neat, and stocked according to department guidelines.
- Coordinate inventory, ordering, competitive pricing, receiving, and stocking of supplies.
- Maintain an average workweek of 45-50 hours as prescribed by the GM.
- High School Diploma or GED required; some college preferred.
- Minimum of six months experience as a room attendant or one year of comparable experience; supervisory experience preferred.
- Ability to verbally communicate clearly and provide concise directions to staff.
- Supervisory and training skills.
- Basic English literacy to complete forms and reports.
- Knowledge of the predominant foreign language of the area is a plus.
- Computer proficiency.
- Ability to organize, prioritize work, meet deadlines, and ensure thorough completion of tasks.
- Exercise good judgment and act independently with minimal supervision.
- Thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, including EEO, civil rights, occupational safety, wage and hour laws, labor relations, and company policies.
- Ability to learn and teach hazardous chemical and blood borne pathogen training.
- Physical requirements include standing, sitting, climbing, bending, crouching, stooping, twisting, reaching, walking for extended periods, climbing stairs without elevators, and pushing/pulling equipment up to 50 lbs; occasional lifting up to 35 lbs.
