DescriptionThe Ohioan Hotel and Event Center (Formally Nationwide Hotel and Conference Center) located in Lewis Center, Ohio is searching for a Banquet Captain to join our team!
As a Banquet Captain, your primary responsibilities evolve around the guest experience. In Food Service, there are both service and product knowledge expectations, with a significant focus on maintaining a hospitable mindset. The team serves a combination of both Food & Beverage and does so in a variety of different venues.
Essential Functions:
- Leads on-going training and supervision of event staff in proper set up, serving and clean up procedures, uniform standards, and proper Hospitality etiquette.
- Organizes event staff by conducting pre-shift meetings and reviewing the specific needs of each event including service procedures, set up, menus, order of service, special requests, closing duties, etc.
- Aid in the service of food and beverage to guests as specified in the BEO, continually stocking and maintaining items to meet the demands of the guests while adhering to all BEO presentation standards.
- Anticipate and beware of guest needs before and during an event in order to provide high quality service and high guest satisfaction.
- Assign duties to the event staff to prepare for present and future events.
- Assist in ensuring a safe work environment for all employees.
- Oversee event functions and provide support to break stations/dining staff as required.
- May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
These physical demands represent the physical requirements necessary for an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of the position. Reasonable accommodation can be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the described essential functions of the position.
- Position requires standing for entire shift
- Position requires the ability to carry a banquet serving tray of at least 6 dinners with the end goal of 8 dinners.
- Ability to lift, reach, bend, stoop, push and/or pull heavy workloads, exert up to 100 pounds of force and the ability to regularly lift 55 lbs.
Qualifications, Education, Experience, Skills, and Abilities:
- At least two years of experience in catering or fine dining leading a team
- Detail oriented with good organizational skills
- Ability to adapt to changing situations
- Leadership qualities of communication, problem solving, guest relations, and empathy
- Maturity of judgement and behavior
- Guest-centric mentality
- Flexibility in scheduling
