Human Resources Generalist
Location:
Montpelier, OH – fully on‑site. Occasional travel to other locations (15‑25% travel) may be required.
- Serve as a trusted HR business partner to supervisors, employees, and leadership by providing timely guidance, coaching, and resolution on employee relations, policy interpretation, performance management, and workplace concerns.
- Support and administer personnel policies, procedures, and HR programs to ensure alignment with business objectives, operational needs, and Wieland HR standards.
- Lead and support employee relations activities, including investigations, corrective action administration, conflict resolution, employee counseling, and documentation while ensuring consistency and legal compliance.
- Assist in administering and interpreting Collective Bargaining Agreements, supporting grievance administration, labor relations activities, and contract compliance, where applicable.
- Ensure compliance with Federal, State, and Local employment laws and regulations, company policies, and government reporting requirements affecting human resources functions.
- Coordinate and administer HR processes including onboarding, employee status changes, promotions, transfers, leaves of absence, separations, return‑to‑work processes, and performance management support.
- Provide day‑to‑day support for payroll, benefits, disability, leave administration, and employee assistance programs in coordination with Corporate Payroll and Benefits teams.
- Serve as the site lead for HR systems and timekeeping platforms (UKG/Dayforce), ensuring accurate and timely processing of employee transactions, pay progressions, shift updates, manpower reporting, and workforce data integrity.
- Partner with Talent Acquisition and hiring managers to support recruiting efforts, including candidate experience, interview coordination, pre‑employment activities, onboarding, and workforce planning initiatives.
- Facilitate new hire orientation and onboarding programs to ensure a positive, compliant, and engaging employee experience from hire through integration into the organization.
- Maintain employee records, HR documentation, and confidential information in compliance with company standards and state and federal requirements.
- Partner with operational leadership to identify workforce trends, staffing needs, succession planning opportunities, employee engagement initiatives, and organizational effectiveness improvements.
- Support safety and health programs, policies, practices, and procedures in compliance with OSHA and applicable Federal, State, and Local regulations.
- Monitor, analyze, and report on key HR metrics (KPIs), manpower reporting, turnover trends, attendance, and other workforce analytics to support informed business decisions and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Recommend and support process improvements, policy enhancements, and employee experience initiatives that improve operational efficiency and strengthen organizational culture.
- Plan, coordinate, and support employee engagement activities, communication initiatives, training programs, and HR projects.
- Provide coaching and guidance to supervisors and managers on employee management practices, policy application, leadership effectiveness, and HR best practices.
- Support audits, compliance reporting, pension and dues administration (where applicable), and other HR operational requirements.
- Serve as backup support for HR leadership, as needed.

- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience required.
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressive Human Resources experience, preferably within a manufacturing and/or unionized environment.
- Working knowledge of Federal and State employment laws and regulations, including FMLA, ADA, EEO, wage and hour laws, and labor relations practices.
- Experience handling employee relations matters, investigations, and policy administration.
- Strong understanding of HR operations, payroll, benefits, recruiting, onboarding, and compliance processes.
