Position Overview
We are seeking a consultative and relationship-focused Benefit Consultant to manage a portfolio of employee benefits clients. This role partners with clients to develop benefit strategies, lead annual renewals, evaluate emerging trends, and recommend solutions that align with organizational goals and employee needs. The ideal candidate is a proactive advisor with strong communication skills, employee benefits knowledge, and the ability to manage complex client needs in a collaborative environment.
This position plays a key role in strengthening client relationships, supporting retention, and delivering strategic value throughout the year.
This is a full-time, hybrid position reporting to our office located in Cincinnati, OH. Computer equipment will be provided by the company upon hire.
Professional Responsibilities- Manage a portfolio of employee benefits clients, serving as a trusted advisor and primary relationship contact.
- Lead the annual renewal process by evaluating client needs, developing recommendations, and presenting strategic benefit solutions.
- Educate clients on emerging employee benefits trends, legislative developments, plan utilization, and opportunities to improve benefit offerings.
- Support employee understanding and engagement by providing education on available benefits and effective plan utilization.
- Apply consistent service processes, checklists, and standardized materials to support accurate and efficient account management.
- Build and maintain productive relationships with insurance carriers, vendor partners, and internal team members.
- Maintain thorough documentation of client discussions, issues, decisions, and follow-up activities within the internal database.
- Identify opportunities to expand client relationships through cross‑selling and additional benefit solutions.
- Participate actively in internal meetings and contribute to a collaborative, high‑performing team culture.
- Engage in ongoing professional development to maintain current knowledge of employee benefits products, regulations, and industry best practices.
- 1–3 years of employee benefits experience, including knowledge of common benefit products and plan offerings.
- Active Ohio or Kentucky Life & Health insurance license required.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience required.
- Strong client relationship skills with the ability to understand organizational needs and provide tailored benefit solutions.
- Excellent written, verbal, listening, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across all organizational levels.
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to manage multiple client needs, deadlines, and administrative details.
- Proactive and solutions‑oriented approach to identifying issues, resolving concerns, and exceeding client expectations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, online platforms, and database or client management systems.
- Ability to build professional relationships with clients, carriers, vendors, and internal partners in a collaborative team environment.
