Head of Technology – Shopify Plus + AI Automation (E‑Commerce Veteran Wanted - $150K+ Bonus)

You've built Shopify stores, wired up ERP integrations, dealt with inventory sync nightmares and order‑flow edge cases. Imagine doing all of that while AI writes 100% of the code as you direct and review.

Schneider’s Saddlery is a 75‑year‑old equestrian e‑commerce company. Profitable with mid‑8‑figure revenue. Modern tech stack after a recent migration. We need a Head of Technology who understands e‑commerce deeply and has embraced AI‑native development.

You understand why:

• Order status webhooks need idempotency
• Inventory sync between ERP and Shopify is harder than it looks
• Product variants with multiple options get messy fast
• Customer‑service automation needs human escalation paths
• Seasonal traffic spikes require infrastructure planning
• Multi‑channel selling creates data‑consistency challenges

We need someone who has lived it.

Storefront – Shopify Plus, theme customization, checkout optimisation, app integrations

ERP – Fulfil.io, Python API integrations, order sync, inventory management

Data – Big Query + Fivetran, analytics pipelines, reporting automation

Frontend – React, Next.js, custom tools, internal dashboards

AI & Development – Claude Code, Anthropic, development workflow, automation systems

Infrastructure – AWS, Terraform, CI/CD, deployment, monitoring

• Customer Service:
  Automated responses for common inquiries, smart routing for complex issues
• Inventory Management:
  Reconciliation between systems, stock‑level alerts, reorder automation
• Order Operations:
  Exception handling, fulfilment optimisation, returns processing
• Reporting:
  Automated daily/weekly reports, anomaly detection, performance dashboards
• Marketing Support:
  Campaign data pipelines, attribution tracking, A/B‑test analysis

Our development approach: 100 % of code is AI‑generated. You direct, review, and ship.

• Active Claude Code or Cursor user
• Systematic AI development workflow (not copy‑paste from ChatGPT)
• Experience building complete features with AI assistance
• Ability to review AI‑generated code critically
• Process for requirements → design → implementation → review

If you’re still writing most code manually and using AI for autocomplete, this isn’t the right fit.

Must‑Have

• 5 + years’ software engineering experience
• Shopify (or Magento/Big Commerce) platform experience
• Python AND JavaScript/Type Script
• ERP or inventory‑system integration experience
• Active AI coding‑tool user with a systematic approach
• US‑based

Nice‑to‑Have

• Fulfil.io or similar ERP experience
• Big Query or data‑warehouse experience
• Previous role as sole/lead engineer

• Contract (Months 1‑3): $75 /hr
• Full‑time (Month 4+): $150K base + up to 100 % performance bonus
• Equity:
