Lead Engineer – Unified Communications & M365
Onsite | Contract-to-Hire | Conversion Salary: $130–$140K

The Lead Engineer, Unified Communications & M365 is responsible for the strategy, daily operations, and continuous improvement of all enterprise voice, messaging, and collaboration platforms—including Cisco UC, Microsoft Teams voice, Direct Routing, voicemail, conferencing, and M365 services.

You’ll oversee engineering, support, and lifecycle management for the entire UC stack, ensuring systems remain reliable, secure, and optimized to support business, clinical, and administrative needs. This leader plays a key role in architecture, vendor management, and team direction.

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 7+ years in unified communications, collaboration, or messaging
• 3+ years managing Microsoft 365 in a mid‑to‑large enterprise
• 2+ years team leadership or technical lead experience
• Strong experience in both Cisco UC and Microsoft Teams/Exchange/M365 ecosystems

• Own architecture, administration, and lifecycle governance of:
  • CUCM
  • Cisco Unity Connection
  • IM & Presence
  • Cisco Webex (Calling, Meetings, Messaging)
  • Contact Center platforms (UCCX/UCCE/Webex CC)
• Lead PSTN/SIP/SBC/carrier integrations and vendor escalations
• Drive high availability, DR, call quality, and endpoint management
• Serve as the escalation point for complex Cisco UC issues

• Oversee Teams voice, Direct Routing, governance, and interoperability
• Guide best practices for Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, and One Drive
• Ensure secure, scalable, and well‑governed M365 collaboration services
• Support migration, modernization, and adoption initiatives across the organization

• Mentor and lead UC/M365 engineers and administrators
• Provide technical direction, coaching, and performance feedback
• Build operational processes, escalation models, and support standards

• Primary point of contact for Microsoft, Cisco, carriers, and UC service partners
• Manage licensing, contracts, renewals, and platform cost optimization
• Work closely with business leaders to align technology with organizational goals

• Monitor platform health and define KPIs for uptime, voice quality, and user experience
• Drive platform optimization, automation, and lifecycle management
  
  Identify and lead modernization opportunities across UC and Collaboration services

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Columbus, OH.

The pay range for this position is $70.00 - $80.00/hr.
