Lead Scrum Master / Project Manager

We are seeking a highly experienced Lead Scrum Master / Project Manager to support enterprise-level initiatives within the banking and financial services industry. This hybrid role blends hands‑on Scrum Master leadership with project management responsibilities, with a strong emphasis on technical Agile delivery, cloud collaboration, and driving organizational change.

This role requires an influential leader who can drive adoption of new processes, challenge existing norms, and promote continuous improvement in a skeptical or change‑resistant environment.

Location & Work Requirements
  • Must be located in Columbus, OH or Phoenix, AZ
  • Hybrid onsite requirement: 4 days per week in office
  • Must be willing to travel once per quarter
Key Responsibilities
Scrum Master Leadership (Primary Focus)
  • Lead all Scrum ceremonies including:

  • Coach and mentor other Scrum Masters, helping standardize Agile practices across teams
  • Provide technical Scrum Master leadership supporting cloud‑related delivery teams
Cloud & Technical Collaboration
  • Partner closely with the Cloud Services team to support infrastructure and cloud transformation initiatives
  • Support Agile delivery for cloud‑related programs and technical work streams
  • Ensure alignment between development teams, cloud engineers, and enterprise architecture
Project Management Responsibilities
  • Support project planning, execution, and delivery tracking across Agile work streams
  • Manage dependencies, risks, and cross‑team coordination
  • Track sprint metrics, velocity, and delivery performance
  • Ensure alignment with enterprise roadmap and strategic priorities
Change Management & Agile Transformation
  • Act as a change agent, driving adoption of improved Agile practices and delivery models
  • Influence and guide Scrum Masters and teams that are resistant to process changes
  • Promote a culture of experimentation, continuous improvement, and Agile maturity
  • Lead by example in demonstrating the value of evolving Agile practices
Stakeholder & Executive Communication
  • Communicate progress, risks, and impediments to leadership and stakeholders
  • Facilitate alignment between business, technology, and Cloud Services teams
  • Support decision‑making processes for delivery prioritization and execution
Required Qualifications

  • Strong experience in the banking and/or financial services industry (required)
  • Hands‑on experience leading Agile ceremonies and sprint execution
  • Proven experience working in technical environments with cloud‑related teams
  • Strong understanding of Agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban)
  • Ability to lead and influence teams in complex, matrixed organizations
  • Experience with Agile tools such as Jira, Confluence, or Azure Dev Ops
  • Strong technical Scrum Master mindset (not just facilitation)
  • Excellent leadership and influence without authority
  • High emotional intelligence and change management capability
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Ability to coach and mentor Agile practitioners
  • Comfortable working in fast‑paced, regulated enterprise environments
  • Problem‑solving and critical thinking abilities
