Tech Hub Leader

As the Tech Hub Leader, you will be responsible for managing and steering a multi-disciplinary technology/digital hub that encompasses:

  • Department for IT Support focusing on providing IT support to overhead functions (e.g. HR, Procurement, Finance, Compliance)
  • Department for Data Analytics & Artificial Intelligence (including Gen AI portfolio management)
  • Scrum Master department
  • Automation Centers of Excellence (CoE) focusing on technologies such as Process Mining, Service Now, RPA (Robotic Process Automation), and Low Code/No Code technology

Responsibilities - your mission

The Tech Hub's dual mission is to:

Drive Digital Transformation in the GBS:
Enhance innovation, operational efficiency, and service quality within GB. This organizational evolution intends to reflect the GBS strategy, i.e. colocation business process experts (in the E2E value streams) knowing the pain points of the day to day operations and the tech experts- with the necessary digital competence, and support the VSMs to achieve their value/efficiency targets.

Serve as a Technology Provider:
Operate as an internal service provider (most of the service lines under full operational responsibility in a CoP, offering models like Analytics-as-a-Service to the wider organization.

  • Strategic Leadership
    • Define and lead the Tech Hub's vision and strategy, ensuring alignment with GBS and global organizational objectives.
    • Champion digital transformation initiatives to improve operational efficiency, customer experience, and service innovation across GBS.
    • Serve as a thought leader, advising on emerging technologies and their strategic applications within the GBS portfolio.
    • Represent the Tech Hub at the executive level within Airbus functions.
    • Develop and execute tactical plans and projects aligned with the GBS strategy.
    • Collaborate with the GBS Leadership Team to define and implement a cohesive GBS strategy, fostering collaboration and sustainability.
  • Operational Excellence
    • Oversee service delivery, ensuring alignment with service-level agreements (SLAs) and key performance indicators (KPIs).
    • Optimize costs while delivering measurable value across GBS processes and functions.
    • Implement strong governance and risk management frameworks to maintain compliance and operational excellence.
    • Lead cross-functional teams to identify inefficiencies, eliminate bottlenecks, and achieve improved efficiency targets.
    • Manage and develop a team, ensuring their well-being, ethical conduct, and professional growth.
  • Innovation and Technology
    • Lead proof-of-concept and pilot programs for innovative technologies, scaling successful initiatives globally (e.g., RPA, Process Mining).
    • Collaborate with internal business units and external partners to co-create solutions and maintain a competitive edge in technology trends.
    • Build, mentor, and inspire a team of technology professionals, fostering a high-performance, inclusive, and collaborative culture.
    • Develop long-term talent strategies, including upskilling, succession planning, and partnerships with educational institutions (e.g., Upskill program with APCD).
    • Position the Tech Hub as a premier destination for top-tier digital talent in Portugal.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with technology providers, innovation ecosystems, and industry thought leaders.
  • Performance Reporting
    • Deliver regular reports and presentations to the GBS leadership, showcasing performance metrics, achievements, and future plans.

Requirements - our ideal candidate will have:

  • Degree in Engineering, or a related field. A master's degree or professional certification (e.g. ITIL) is preferred.
  • 5+ yrs leadership experience.
  • Proven expertise in leading teams in a multinational environment.
  • Leadership skills with the ability to build and manage high-performing teams.
  • Data-driven decision-making with expertise in analytics, automation, and AI-driven solutions.
  • Fluent in English, other Airbus languages are a plus (German, Spanish, French).
