District Technology Technician

Location: East Muskingum School District, District Office, New Concord, Ohio

Starting Date: Immediately

Job Summary

Assist the Technology Coordinator/Operations Manager in maintaining district network and equipment, ensuring operating excellence for educational and operational facets.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Self‑motivated, independent, and prioritizes tasks with regular attendance.
  • Serve as a positive role model for students.
  • Maintain confidentiality and accurate inventory/service records.
  • Image, install, configure, and troubleshoot computers, Chromebooks, software, peripherals; collaborate with maintenance staff on construction installation projects.
  • Install network wiring and connections to servers, hubs, routers, etc.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, routine cleaning, repairs, maintain repair records, submit warranty claims.
  • Keep Management informed of progress, avoid disrupting building activities except emergencies.
  • Coordinate scheduled repairs with outside vendors and ensure equipment safety and availability.
  • Follow board‑approved procedures for disposal of fixed assets.
  • Manage district help desk.
  • Prepare training materials, instruction sheets, and plan/provide in‑service programs and professional development for staff.
  • Establish and manage user accounts, disable accounts at school year end.
  • Collaborate with teachers to explore technology adaptations for classroom activities.
  • Set up and operate equipment for special occasions.
  • Evaluate new equipment and provide cost‑factor information.
  • Develop and maintain district website; update technology plan with the committee.
  • Stay current with new hardware/software via publishers, professional organizations, publications, meetings.
  • Perform other duties consistent with professional competence as assigned.
Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Associate’s Degree or 2 years of related experience preferred.
  • Experience in a computer service center; ability to work well with others.
  • Experience in instructional media & technology programs, network design/maintenance, Chromebook repair, Microsoft programs, Google Workspace, troubleshooting and design, Server 2022, Windows 11, Chrome OS.

Skills:

  • Language: read/write simple instructions; present information in one‑on‑one and small group settings.
  • Mathematical: basic arithmetic with money, weight, volume, distance.
  • Technology: operational knowledge of Chrome or Windows; ready to receive training.
  • Reasoning: follow clear instructions; logical problem solving.
