Information Technology System Engineer

Akkodis is seeking a IT Systems Engineer role is a Full-time with a clientin Walton Hills, OH (Onsite). We’re ideally looking for an applicant with hands-on IT infrastructure experience, serving as the primary technical resource for Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft 365/Entra , Hyper‑V, networking (firewalls, switches, VLANs, VPNs), backups, and Power Shell automation. Experience supporting multi‑site environments, leading IT infrastructure projects, and M&A integrations is a plus.

The ideal candidate is a self‑starter with strong troubleshooting skills, excellent communication, and a personality that fits well within a small, collaborative IT team.

Salary Range: $110k-120K/annum + Benefits; The salary may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

• We are looking for a hands‑on IT Systems Engineer to own and advance our core infrastructure —
• servers, network, identity, and security — and to lead the IT side of our acquisitions.
• This is the senior technical role on a lean team. You will be the go‑to engineer for the environment,
• working alongside a front‑line support technician and a managed‑services partner, with strategic
• direction from IT leadership. It is an excellent fit for someone who wants real ownership, day‑to‑day
• variety, and the opportunity to standardize and build out an environment as the company scales.

• Own day‑to‑day administration of the server and virtualization environment (Windows Server,
• Hyper‑V) across multiple sites.
• Administer identity and productivity platforms — Active Directory and Microsoft 365 / Entra  a
• hybrid configuration (Exchange Online, directory sync).
• Manage and build out the network — enterprise firewalls, switches, wireless, VLANs, and VPN —
• and standardize it as the organization grows.
• Lead the IT workstream for acquisitions: plan and execute integrations (network re‑IP and cutover,
• data and email migration, equipment standardization, and user onboarding) with minimal disruption
• to the business.
• Support core business systems, including the ERP (SQL Server) and coordination with hosted
• line‑of‑business application vendors.
• Own backup, recovery, and business continuity (e.g., Veeam), and routinely verify restores.
• Strengthen the security baseline — multi‑factor authentication, endpoint protection, patching, and
• remote‑access hardening.
• Partner with and mentor the front‑line support technician, and coordinate escalations with the
• Manage IT vendors and maintain clear, current documentation of the environment.
• Use scripting and automation (Power Shell) to streamline operations and reporting.

• 4–7 years of hands‑on systems and network engineering experience (beyond help‑desk), serving as the primary technical resource for an environment.
• Strong Windows Server and Active Directory administration;
  Hyper‑V or comparable virtualization.
• Microsoft 365 / Entra  (Azure AD) and Exchange Online in a hybrid setup.
• Solid networking fundamentals: enterprise firewalls, managed switches, business‑class Wi‑Fi, VLANs, VPN, and routing/NAT troubleshooting.
• Backup and disaster‑recovery experience, with a disciplined approach to recovery testing.
• Power Shell scripting and comfort automating routine work.
• Self‑directed and resourceful, a strong troubleshooter and clear communicator, willing to be on‑site and to travel for acquisition and integration work.

• Prior M&A / IT integration experience — bringing newly acquired companies onto a standardized environment.
• Fortinet (Forti Gate / Forti Switch) and Ruckus wireless experience.
• SQL Server familiarity and exposure to ERP environments.
• Background supporting multi‑site or distributed operations.
• Interest in applying automation and AI tooling to IT operations.
• Relevant certifications (Microsoft, networking/Fortinet, or security).

• Experience with software engineering, application development, and scripting — a plus as the team's capabilities grow.
• Multi‑site organization, roughly 150 users, actively acquiring.
• Hybrid Microsoft environment: on‑premises Active Directory and Hyper‑V servers with Microsoft 365 / Exchange Online / Entra .
• ERP on SQL Server, plus cloud line‑of‑business applications.
• Fortinet firewalls and switches, Ruckus wireless, Veeam backup, and a Microsoft Teams‑based help desk.
