Clearance Requirements:
Tier 1 Background Investigation – National Agency Check with Law and Credit Check, and fingerprints.

Total Compensation: $53.00 per hour.

Type of Employment: 40 hours per week.

Period of Performance: 30 September 2026 – 29 September 2027

Paid Time Off per Year:
Up to 80 hours per year, occurring on day one.

Sick Leave per Year:
Up to 56 hours per year, occurring on day one.

Background

The Data Visual Specialist will support the Knowledge Management Cell (KM), Public Health and Preventive Medicine Department (PHD), United States Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine (USAFSAM), as KM provides a bridge between raw epidemiological surveillance, information management, and actionable command-level decisions. Key functions include Data Integration:
Consolidating data from multiple health and military systems (e.g., MHS GENESIS, ASIMS, DOEHRS, AFDRSi) to track force health.

Working Hours

The Data Visual Specialist's work schedule is normally from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday; however, there may be times when it is necessary for the employee to work after duty hours or weekends in support of specific tasks. Although the schedule may have to be flexible, it will not exceed 40 hours per week.

Mandatory Qualifications
  • Possess a Master's Degree or Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 4 years of experience in a technical field such as Data Science, Computer Science, Operations Research, or another similar degree.
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of data visualization principles, data administration, and information management, with 2-4 years of experience working in these fields.
  • Experienced in utilizing and integrating data from various health and military-relevant systems, with the capability to learn and use: ASIMS, DOEHRS (All Modules), CarePoint, C2

    IMERA, MHS GENESIS, AFDRSi, ESSENCE, AFSAS, DHASAS, and HPWS.
  • Possess expert-level skills in data preparation, including handling diverse and complex datasets, and preparing them for visualization using methods that may include optimization, modeling, and machine learning techniques.
  • Able to utilize data visualization tools to create decision support systems, such as interactive dashboards, Head-Up Displays, and other visual tools to support command decisions. Proficiency in business intelligence platforms (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Envision), data analytical software (SAS), and relevant programming languages (e.g., Python, R) is preferred.
  • Be current in Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) training or be able to complete the training within one month of employment to ensure compliance with all laws and regulations governing the use of personally identifiable information (PII) and personal health information (PHI).
  • Possess the expertise to communicate complex technical and programmatic information to senior leaders and diverse stakeholders through authoritative reports, documents, and presentations. Possess the capacity to learn new analytical technology tools such as Python, R, SAS Viya, Qualtrics, Power BI, or Artificial Intelligence, such as machine learning or computer neural network algorithms.
Duties/Responsibilities

Data Integration and Management.

  • Prepare diverse and complex datasets for storage and analysis, developing database models and organizational structures to support program evaluation and risk-based analysis.
  • Integrate and map data between various data elements from disparate systems, creating a comprehensive data dictionary to ensure data quality, completeness, and integrity.
  • Ensure all data handling and storage activities comply with internal and external information assurance policies, including HIPAA, INFOSEC, and the Privacy Act.
