Job Summary
Kutak Rock LLP seeks an Associate to join the Public Finance practice in the firm’s Ohio offices. This dynamic role is ideal for an attorney with one or more years’ experience and an interest in developing their knowledge and skills in public finance transactions while working closely with experienced partners.

- Review, draft and negotiate transaction documents
- Review and draft organizational and authorizing documents
- Review, draft and manage transaction due diligence
- Coordinate pre-closing and closing logistics
- Ensure that appropriate approvals are in place before transactions are executed
- Interpret laws, rulings and regulations in relevant areas of the law
- Commitment to achieving the goals of Firm clients
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge and understanding of municipal bond financing, real estate finance transactions or economic development transactions or a strong desire to learn about such practices
- Strong organizational and matter management skills
- Work effectively under pressure and to meet deadlines
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to apply critical thinking and possess a high attention to detail
- Work professionally and collaboratively with partners, associates, and support staff
- Exceptional research, writing, and analytical skills
- Self-motivated and proactive with a strong work ethic
- Ability and confidence to work independently or collaboratively pursuant to the needs of the individual project
- Strong desire to learn and develop superior drafting and negotiating skills
- Understanding of various business and governmental entities
Education and Experience
- Must be currently admitted to practice in Ohio with an active bar license in good standing or able to be admitted within the first year of employment.
- Minimum of one year’s experience working within a legal field, experience in public finance, government finance departments, real estate, investment banks and institutional lenders, or other providers of capital in connection with economic development transactions or tax‑exempt financings preferred but not required.
Status: Exempt
Salary Range: $150,000–$170,000 annual base salary, commensurate with education and experience
Work Arrangement: Hybrid. Preference given to candidates in the Columbus area, but candidates across Ohio are encouraged to apply. Remote candidates may also be considered.
