About the Role

As ADVANZ PHARMA continues to strengthen its position as the partner of choice for specialty, hospital, and rare disease medicines, we have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Legal Counsel to join our European Commercial Legal team.

Reporting to the Legal Director, Commercial Europe (based in London), this role acts as the primary legal business partner for the Commercial teams across Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the Benelux and the Nordics region. You will sit closely with senior leadership, including the German leadership team, and play a key role in supporting high-value commercial activity, disputes, compliance initiatives and pan-European projects.

This is a high-impact, visible role offering genuine scope to grow depending on experience and development.

What You’ll Do

• Act as the primary legal representative and trusted business partner to Commercial teams across the DACH, the Benelux and the Nordics region
• Provide clear, concise and pragmatic legal advice on a wide range of commercial matters, including licensing, distribution, tender, supply, clinical trial services, consulting and other service agreements
• Negotiate, draft and advise on complex commercial contracts, mitigating risk and aligning with business priorities
• Manage disputes and contentious matters, escalating appropriately and engaging external counsel where required
• Play a key role in data protection and privacy matters and support compliance-related initiatives, including policy development and delivery of training to the business
• Contribute to broader pan-European and global legal projects, including regulatory matters, M&A and licensing transactions, and integration of acquired and licensed assets
• Support company secretarial activities for European entities, ensuring statutory and governance obligations are met
• Monitor legislative and regulatory developments impacting the business and support implementation of changes

About You

We are looking for a commercially minded and confident legal professional who enjoys working close to the business and taking ownership of complex, multi-territory matters.

Qualifications:

• Law degree (graduate or post-graduate)
• Fully qualified lawyer with German legal qualification (essential)

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

• Approximately 9+ years’ post-qualification experience in commercial law
• Strong experience advising on complex commercial contracts and disputes
• Pharmaceutical industry experience preferred
• Fluent German and English (written and spoken)
• Proven cross-border experience, ideally across the DACH region
• Data protection and privacy experience, or a strong willingness to further develop in this area
• Comfortable acting independently as the primary legal representative while knowing when to escalate
• Experience managing a broad, demanding workload across multiple territories
• Commercially pragmatic, confident in challenging stakeholders and influencing at senior level
• Highly organised, resilient and able to operate effectively under pressure
