Job Description:
This role directly supports the Sr. Associate General Counsel, Sr.Associate General Counsel
- Healthcare, the Contract Compliance Officer, and the Legal Nurse Specialist performing a variety ofduties such as preparing legal documents and correspondence,docketing cases, managing all legal files and providing information and direction to others. This position allows access to and dealswith highly confidential information related to litigation, legal issues, strategies, and positions related to the University and its subsidiaries, including labor unions of The University of Toledo.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A minimum of an associate’s degree in legal studies is requiredor a combination of applicable experience and education in lieu of higher education.
- Minimum of one year working in a law office/legal environment preferred.
- Experience with healthcare and/or education law strongly preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Must have exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability tofoster positive working relationships across departments are essential.
- Must be able to navigate complex interpersonal dynamics with tactand professionalism.
- Must be able to solve problems and handle responsibilities under pressure. Ability to act independently, have good judgment and work with minimal supervision. Must be able to handle multiple tasks in an organized manner. Must be proactive in seeking out sources for instruction.
- Must be familiar with a broad range of legal terminology.
Knowledge of brief writing and citations. - Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies ina diverse community. Ability to use diplomacy and discretion ingiving out information and in referring and directing callers and visitors.
- Must be able to manage confidential information and communications while maintaining confidentiality and discretion at all times.
- Must have excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Word,Excel, Outlook, Adobe Pro, etc.
- Preferred experience in legal management software.
- Must have ability to create, compose and edit written materials.
