The Director of Supply Chain Management / Purchasing provides global strategic and operational leadership for the end‑to‑end supply chain function. The role is responsible for defining and executing a robust, scalable, and resilient supply chain strategy aligned with business objectives, customer requirements, and the AMETEK operating model. A key focus is the sustainable improvement of On‑Time Delivery (OTD), lead time reduction, and optimization of cost, inventory, and working capital.

The position reports to the Vice President of Operations and serves as the global functional owner for Supply Chain Management and Purchasing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a global Supply Chain and Purchasing strategy
  • Drive significant improvements in OTD, lead times, and overall supply chain performance
  • Lead global planning, purchasing, logistics, and supplier development activities
  • Define make‑or‑buy strategies, supplier footprint, and supply risk mitigation plans
  • Optimize cost, inventory levels, service levels, and working capital
  • Lead and develop international supply chain teams across multiple manufacturing sites
  • Partner cross‑functionally with Operations, Quality, Engineering, Finance, Sales, and R&D
  • Establish clear KPIs, governance structures, and executive reporting
  • Act as escalation point for critical supply, delivery, or supplier risks
Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field; MBA preferred
  • 10–15+ years of experience in Supply Chain Management within a manufacturing environment
  • Proven leadership experience in global, multi‑site organizations
  • Strong background in purchasing, planning, logistics, and supplier management
  • Demonstrated success in driving transformation with measurable improvements in delivery, lead time, and cost
  • Strong strategic mindset combined with hands‑on execution
  • Data‑driven, financially oriented decision making
  • Experience with ERP systems and digital supply chain tools
  • Fluent in English;
    German is an advantage
