Commodity Manager IIWesterman, Inc., an employee-owned company, is a multiple site manufacturer of production and storage equipment within the oil, gas, and nuclear industries. Our equipment helps optimize well pad design, improve separation efficiency and lower overall equipment spend through high-performance surface separation and processing technology. Our equipment is setting new standards for performance and economics nationwide.
SUMMARY The Commodity Manager II is responsible for supporting the Vice President, Supply Chain, with the overall procurement process for designated commodities throughout all our locations. We are looking for an experienced Commodity Manager to take on a key role in developing and implementing Sourcing Strategies and Strategic agreements within the designated commodities (steel, fabrication, electrical instrumentation, etc.) that facilitate Lean procurement principles and optimize the capability, value, and flexibility of the Westerman supply chain.
The Commodity Manager II is expected to mentor other Commodity Managers and purchasing personnel. You must be a results-driven individual with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, keen attention to detail, and can influence across the organization and the supply base with the desire to make a difference.
RESPONSIBILITIES Regular and punctual attendance at work is an essential job function of each position and is necessary to your individual effectiveness and that of your work group. Regular and punctual attendance is required of all employees.
Execution of sourcing strategies regarding quote turnaround timing, accuracy, and savings that meet or exceed organization requirements
Execution of input provided to estimating, engineering, operations, and procurement teams to leverage key supplier capabilities in product design, manufacture, test, cost reduction, lead time reduction and customer satisfaction
Compliance to product requirements, prompt resolution of supplier performance issues, and proactive feedback of potential issues that may impact customer delivery
Achievement of the negotiation and contract opportunities and long-term agreements, coordinating with all internal stakeholders involved in the process
Consistent communication with suppliers and internal customers
On time presentations to management
Mentor and trainer for other purchasing personnel

REQUIREMENTS Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics or equivalent work experience required
Minimum of 3 years Commodity Manager I experience or equivalent role that included price negotiation required
Demonstrated knowledge of ISO 9001 quality system requirements required
Broad knowledge of manufacturing processes, key market indicators, and suppliers associated with raw materials, mechanical parts, and assemblies required
Ability to comprehend part requirements and specifications and communicate effectively and clearly to internal and external customers (suppliers, engineers, customers, etc.) required
Proven ability to develop and execute structured action plans that achieve organizational goals required
Strong interpersonal skills with a proven ability to work effectively independently as well as part of a wider team to deliver results required
Demonstrated positive supplier management/engagement experience required
Strong organizational and process development/optimization skills required
Extreme attention to detail required
Customer-oriented focus with ability to be creative in providing solutions required
Strong negotiation skills with excellent verbal and written communication skills required
Strong Microsoft Office knowledge and accurate data entry skills required
Ability to prepare material and present to groups required
Ability to travel 20% of the time…
