For more than 90 years, The Dupps Company has been a global leader in industrial rendering and processing solutions. We are seeking an experienced Director of Purchasing to join our team at our headquarters in Germantown, Ohio.
The Director of Purchasing is responsible for leading the Company’s purchasing strategy and daily procurement operations across all locations, including Universal Maintenance, Sunrise, and Dameron. This position oversees strategic sourcing, supplier and contract management, cost control, material availability, purchasing systems, and supply-chain risk. The Director of Purchasing leads and develops the purchasing team and works closely with Logistics, Accounting, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Sales to ensure materials and services are obtained at the appropriate cost, quality, and delivery requirements.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute purchasing strategies aligned with Company goals; support budgeting, forecasting, and capital planning; and establish, monitor, and report purchasing key performance indicators.
- Lead strategic sourcing, supplier consolidation, cost-reduction, cost-avoidance, and value-engineering initiatives; analyze spend and market data to identify savings and sourcing opportunities while balancing cost, quality, delivery, service, and risk.
- Identify, evaluate, approve, and manage key suppliers; negotiate contracts, pricing, lead times, payment terms, and other commercial conditions; and ensure contract compliance and timely renewals.
- Build productive, long-term supplier relationships; promote collaboration and open communication; address supplier concerns and performance issues proactively; and develop strategic partnerships that support business growth and innovation.
- Monitor supplier quality, service, pricing, and delivery performance, including reviewing monthly supplier delivery-performance reports and leading corrective actions when expectations are not met.
- Oversee daily purchasing activities to ensure the timely and cost-effective sourcing of materials and services; maintain purchasing policies, approval processes, documentation, and internal controls; and resolve escalated material-availability and supplier-performance issues.
- Manage the purchasing of nickel, nickel boron, and scrap materials for Dameron and complete the monthly reconciliation of Dameron nickel and nickel boron purchases and inventory.
- Support purchasing requirements and coordinate sourcing strategies and supplier relationships across all Company locations, including Universal Maintenance, Sunrise, and Dameron; identify opportunities to leverage combined purchasing volume while addressing local business needs.
- Lead, coach, and develop the purchasing team; establish goals and expectations; conduct performance reviews; support succession planning; and promote accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Monitor supplier, commodity, financial, and broader supply-chain risks; develop contingency plans and alternate sources for critical materials and high-risk suppliers; and ensure purchasing activities comply with applicable laws, ethical standards, Company policies, and contractual requirements.
- Oversee procurement systems and reporting tools; improve purchasing processes, workflow efficiency, reporting, and data accuracy; and collaborate with Logistics, Accounting, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Sales to align purchasing decisions with operational needs.

- Strong organizational and prioritization skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP or procurement systems and the ability to travel as business needs require.
Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Operations, Finance, Engineering, or a related field required.
- Seven or more years of progressively responsible purchasing, procurement, supply-chain, or strategic-sourcing experience required.
- Three or more years of purchasing or supply-chain leadership experience required.
- Purchasing experience within a manufacturing, industrial, or engineered-to-order environment strongly preferred.
