Shop Mechanic - Northwood, OH
Compensation Range: Based on Experience + $2,000 Sign-on Bonus
JOB SUMMARY
Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain industrial vehicles, including forklifts, railcar movers, container handlers, and terminal tractors. Perform routine maintenance and breakdown repair work in our Northwood, Ohio shop. Prioritize work orders, comply with safety incident reporting, and ensure all paperwork is submitted timely and accurately.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment breakdowns; provide proper repairs to minimize equipment downtime and initiate estimates for on-site repairs.
- Set up and operate lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.
- Perform routine scheduled maintenance, including standard inspections, repair and replace defective parts, lubricate parts, and repair electrical equipment.
- Inspect used parts to determine changes in factory specifications.
- Review repair work and scheduled maintenance results with managers, communicating any potential issues.
- Provide daily status updates with managers and review any customer equipment issues or concerns.
EDUCATION
- High School Diploma or equivalent. Vocational or technical certification preferred.
REQUIREMENTS
- 2+ years of experience in a service technician role.
- Previous experience with hydraulics and computer diagnostics. Ability to interpret and apply schematic diagrams.
- Reliable transportation.
- Ability to work independently and to effectively prioritize demands and execute tasks.
- Strong attention to detail, project management, and organizational skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey information to internal and external customers in a clear and concise manner.
