Position Description

Position Summary

New River Electrical is looking for a qualified Shop Assistant skilled in fleet tools and inventory. In this role you will get the chance to join a growing Fleet & Facilities team and establish a lasting career in a dynamic and innovative work environment. New River Electrical has established itself as the trusted electrical contractor for coast-to-coast electrical construction.

As the Shop Assistant, you will support the Fleet & Facilities function. Working in a garage environment, you will support the shop team by providing safe and reliable tools. This position purchases, maintains inventory, performs testing, calibrations/inspection/certification and repairs on tools as well as fulfills orders. This role also maintains awareness of changing DOT compliance and regulations. This role reports to the Shop Foreman.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Maintain, monitor and ensure tool and material inventory is maintained and available to shop teams utilizing Tool Watch Software.
  • Purchase and receive tools and materials utilizing Tool Watch Software for tracking.
  • Inspect, repair and calibrate tools for proper operation and safety function.
  • Utilize Tool Watch software to track work orders and calibrations ensuring proper equipment is available for use.
  • Keep up to data on the knowledge and compliance of DOT regulations and compliance.
  • Safely deliver and recover equipment, materials, tools to various sites.
  • Load a variety of equipment on trailers in compliance with DOT specifications.
  • Manage recalls, promote new tooling, demos and procedures.
  • Other task as requested by Shop Foreman.
  • Heavy travel for this position is not expected working in a shop environment, but some travel may occur.

    Position Requirements

    Qualifications

  • H.S or Technical School degree, experience in the automotive repair field with preference toward garage and/or trade school experience a plus.
  • Ability to explain basic components of automotive repair and tools.
  • Basic understanding of automotive repair including use and care of tools.
  • Basic knowledge of automotive diagnostics and tooling including inspection, repair and calibration.
  • Understanding of basic inventory function including how to anticipate the ordering of tools and equipment.
  • Ability to track and monitor DOT regulations and compliance including the education of any changes to Shop Foreman and team members.
  • Ability to work with various tools and equipment safely and effectively.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated competency in developing and maintaining internal team relationships.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Exhibit the highest level of business ethics and consistently adhere to and promote New River's values and beliefs.
