Service Manager – TRULAND Equipment
TRULAND Equipment is a leading John Deere dealer with 18 locations in Indiana and Ohio, serving residential, commercial, and agricultural customers. We are looking for a hardworking, eager-to-learn individual who thrives in a fast‑paced, team‑driven environment.
PurposeManages service operations within the location to maximize return on investment by optimizing Service Department processes to ensure internal and external customer satisfaction. Grows profitable service labor sales and exercises disciplined expense control. Attracts, retains, and effectively engages department team members.
Responsibilities- Develop, communicate, enforce, and monitor effective Service Department processes to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Execute service department marketing plan in coordination with the corporate service manager and marketing manager.
- Monitor metrics to ensure achievement of departmental goals.
- Ensure all service warranty and Product Improvement Program claims are submitted within required time frames.
- Schedule and assign jobs and work areas to team members according to their skills.
- Manage repair order system for completeness and accuracy prior to customer billing.
- Ensure all departmental tools, equipment, and vehicles are in good working order.
- Manage team development activities for employees reporting to this position.
- Manage the location service department in accordance with TRULAND Equipment safety guidelines and workspace practices.
- Maintain, schedule, and participate in the location's After hours Support System.
- Recruit, staff, and develop employees, including performing performance reviews.
- Assist with training of service personnel and complete performance reviews.
- 3+ years of experience working in a service department; experience consistently meeting performance metrics preferred.
- Experience with off‑road, construction, lawn, or heavy equipment.
- Experience operating vehicles, tools, and equipment for diagnostic purposes.
- Basic computer skills; experience using Service ADVISOR™ or other diagnostic repair tools preferred.
- Experience leading and working cooperatively in a team environment.
- Effective communication skills.
- Ability to analyze and interpret internal reports.
- Adequate personal toolset to perform job responsibilities.
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent;
Associate’s degree preferred. - Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred.
