Position Summary:

The Assistant Director of Oversight and Compliance serves a pivotal role in ensuring that Long Island University’s academic and administrative programs adhere to all applicable regulations, standards, and best practices. This position involves oversight, monitoring, and support for compliance initiatives across the University with an emphasis on academic programs, administration and athletics compliance. The Assistant Director works closely with vice presidents, deans, faculty, staff, and administrative units to promote a culture of accountability and integrity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Compliance Oversight:
    • Monitor compliance with external and institutional standards set forth by relevant accrediting bodies, regulatory agencies and University policies and protocols.
    • Support development, implementation and maintenance of policies and procedures.
    • Conduct regular reviews and assessments of academic and administrative programs to ensure adherence to compliance requirements.
  • Collaboration and Support:
    • Work closely with student, academic and administrative departments to provide guidance on compliance matters.
    • Serve as a resource regarding compliance-related questions and concerns.
    • Support leadership in facilitating training sessions and workshops to educate various University constituencies about compliance standards and best practices.
  • Reporting and Documentation:
    • Prepare and submit reports, presentations and other documentation reflecting the results of compliance monitoring reviews, with an emphasis on compliance risks and mitigation steps required.
    • Maintain detailed records of compliance activities, including assessments, training sessions, and communications.
    • Manage a detailed schedule of external reporting required by the University to ensure policies and protocols are being followed.
    • Assist in the evaluation and critique of self-study and other reports and documentation required for compliance.
  • Policy Development:
    • Collaborate with university leadership to develop and revise compliance-related policies and procedures.
    • Stay informed about changes in regulations and standards, ensuring that the University’s policies are updated accordingly.
  • Risk Management:
    • Identify potential compliance risks and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies.
    • Assist in the investigation of compliance-related issues and recommend corrective actions as necessary.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Promote a culture of continuous improvement by identifying opportunities for enhancing compliance processes and practices.
    • Support the university's strategic initiatives related to program quality and compliance.
  • Preferred Qualifications
    • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Higher Education Administration, Compliance, Public Policy, or a related field.
    • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in compliance or related positions within higher education.
    • Strong knowledge of risk management processes and standards, as well as federal and state regulations affecting higher education.
    • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
    • Strong writing, interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
    • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism.
    • Familiarity with compliance management software and tools.

    Compensation: $75,000 - $80,000, commensurate with qualifications.
