Job Summary

This position plays a key role in maintaining building, grounds, equipment and machinery to provide a safe and controlled work environment for manufacturing, distribution and office personnel and ensuring compliance with federal, state and local regulations. Also, this position will provide support to all Safety, Environmental and Wellness activities and programs for the Reno DC and will be primary support for the site’s safety program.

This position will provide support to the Plant Leadership Team in achieving their goal of eliminating work related injuries. Support includes evaluation of the worksite, training in safety and OSHA related matters, proactive analysis of loss experience and recommendations regarding worksite safety practices.

Responsibilities Maintenance
  • Continued development of maintenance processes includes TPR, preventative, predictive and RCM to ensure maximum machinery and equipment availability and reliability.
  • Oversee effective work order system and properly set priorities for open work orders.
  • Ensure efficient operations of the Parts Crib by ensuring proper inventory levels are kept of the appropriate components.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures relating to the maintenance functions.
  • Ensure maximum department efficiency by properly planning work tasks and schedules.
  • Responsible for development of all personnel, which includes training and coaching based on the needs of the individual and the business.
  • Control spending so that budgetary goals are met or exceeded.
  • Develop and execute cost reduction programs to create more efficient manufacturing operations.
  • Responsible for developing and tracking metrics to ensure that the department is continuously improving and rapidly developing into a world‑class maintenance operation.
  • Develop capital investments requests for budget and Cap Ex approvals for facility tools and equipment.
  • Vendor Setups through defined process.
  • Spare parts inventory and management.
Safety
  • Develops and implements company health and safety procedures, processes and programs which ensure the safety of the operations, which are compliant with the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) and other local, state, and federal rules and regulations.
  • Leads and maintains monthly safety meetings, calendar and training.
  • Develops and implements safety awareness programs, which are behavior‑based and contribute to increased awareness of core safety program elements.
  • Participates in the investigation, documentation and analysis of accidents and injuries and maintains a follow‑up system to ensure corrective action is promptly implemented.
  • Leads, develops or coordinates supervisory, new hire, and contractor training programs which will increase proficiency in safe practices and promote safety consciousness.
  • Responsible for serving as a technical resource to support associates, at all levels, on safety‑related issues.
  • Analyzes and assesses plant safety trend data to drive safety resource allocation and ergonomic initiatives to reduce injuries.
  • Maintains good relationships with Workers’ Compensation TPA’s and manages claims, including return to work practices.
  • Facilitates, develops and maintains existing safety programs to improve on the SEAL (Safety Excellence and Leadership) assessment score year over year.
  • Maintains OSHA log, written safety plans, training records and other reporting requirements.
  • Conducts or coordinates a critical task assessment for the facility. Act as a resource to the Leadership Team in assisting them to implement written Job Safety Analysis for tasks that are identified as critical tasks, within their departments.
