This role is based at our Main Office in Medina County with travel to residential sites and community meetings.
The RoleThe Director of Residential Services provides strategic and operational oversight of:
- Residential Services
- Qualified Intellectual Disabilities Professionals, QIDPs
- Operations Manager, Residential Services
- Camp and Volunteer Services
Reporting to the Associate Executive Director, this leader partners closely with agency leadership to ensure service quality, fiscal responsibility, regulatory integrity, and team performance.
This role requires both strategic oversight and hands on leadership.
Key Responsibilities Lead and Develop Teams- Recruit, hire, and support QIDPs, the Operations Manager, and the Camp and Volunteer Coordinator
- Provide guidance in site level talent acquisition
- Establish succession and contingency plans to ensure leadership continuity
- Oversee residential census, referrals, admissions, discharges, and wait lists
- Use data, metrics, and workflow evaluation to assess and improve performance
- Maintain working knowledge of relevant regulatory bodies including DODD, ODM, ODJFS, ODH, and CMS
- Ensure consistent alignment with agency policies and regulatory standards
- Identify the need for new or revised policies and draft, update, and implement policies and procedures to ensure regulatory alignment and operational clarity
- Partner with the Associate Executive Director to monitor residential, programmatic, and camp related fiscal performance
- Promote shared ownership, professional growth, and clarity of expectations
- Communicate with professionalism and consistency
- Represent The Society with credibility to internal and external stakeholders
You are a systems oriented leader and a people developer.
You are comfortable operating within regulated environments and translating requirements into clear operational practice. You understand that strong residential services depend on disciplined systems, clear expectations, and compassionate leadership.
You bring:- A bachelor’s degree in a related field
- Five years of experience in developmental disabilities or three years supervising complex systems within the field
- Working knowledge of state and federal regulatory agencies
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Technical fluency and the ability to leverage software and reporting tools effectively
- A valid Ohio Driver’s License and required certifications
You take pride in building efficient workflows, strengthening processes, and creating operational clarity. You believe accountability is created through well designed systems, not micromanagement. You coach rather than control and lead with both structure and humility.

- QIDPs and managers experience consistent partnership, clear expectations, and structured development.
- Compliance reviews reflect preparation and operational discipline.
- Camp and volunteer services are well integrated.
- Leadership coverage is proactive and stable.
The role includes standing, walking, sitting, driving, and occasional lifting up to 30 pounds. Work environments include office and residential settings. Personal protective equipment may be required as outlined in agency policies.
