Position Overview
Job Title: Park & Watercraft Manager 1
Division: Division of Parks & Watercraft
Location: Burr Oak State Park, Glouster, OH
- Oversee operations and maintenance at Burr Oak, Strouds Run, and Forked Run state parks.
- Implement, prioritize, and track the fiscal operating budget.
- Supervise staff, provide training, and conduct regular staff meetings.
- Support ODNR’s mission by balancing customer service, education, protection, and conservation of Ohio’s state parks and waterways.
- Collaborate with local tourism bodies, community groups, schools, and other partners to develop and promote park programs and events.
- Coordinate with the Lodge, Concessionaire, Golf Course, and Friends Groups for individual parks.
- Submit projects for capital funding, review plans, and work with engineers, consultants, and contractors throughout project execution.
- Manage compensation progression: starting hourly pay of $32.35/hr with increases over the first seven years, capped at $46.09/hr.
- Minimum of 24 months training or professional experience in natural resources management, parks & recreation management, facility management, hospitality management, business, or public administration; 12 months supervisory experience; valid driver’s license.
- OR completion of an associate core program in one of the above fields with 6 months relevant experience, 12 months supervisory experience, and a valid driver’s license.
- OR completion of an undergraduate core program in one of the above fields with a valid driver’s license and 12 months supervisory experience.
- OR 12 months experience as an Assistant Park & Watercraft Manager (classification 22515) with a valid driver’s license.
- OR equivalent qualifications as described in the minimum class qualifications.
