Director Engineering and Continuous Improvement

This role can be located remotely and requires up to 50% travel in the year.

Oversee and manage the delivery of consistent standard operational processes using our methodology based on Toyota Production System (TPS) manufacturing. Studies and records Tac Time and cycle times using business tools to drive speed to market, improve efficiency and establish process and agreed rates in DC operations. Utilize the guidance provided from the customer to fully embed the TPS methodology, principles and way of thinking into the daily operations.

Provides support and lead / facilitate Gemba walks, Kaizen, continuous improvement projects, gathering and analyzing data regarding run to sequence of operations, improve lead-time, reduce costs and improve overall efficiencies.

Build strategy to train, educate and continually improve self and teams in the understanding TPS methodology and culture. Ability to influence change and implement new initiatives. Work closely with global teams and other DHL sites.

• Work with the WMS team in conjunction with site management team in regards to operational performance, job instruction standardization and CI initiatives. Report improvements and build strategy / roadmap for future WMS adaption with the Operations Director/GM.

• Innovates, implements and manages cost reduction, quality, safety and ergonomic improvement ideas.
• Applies electronic tools across a broad range of applications, including SAP, AutoCAD, MS Project and Production Engineer Labor Standards, modelling and simulations.
• Develop a strategy and roadmap for the year to fully embed TPS methodology into the way of working on site.
• Implement and manage plans to support warehousing/logistics operations. Designs operations lay
• Improves production flow and presentation.
• Monitors, compiles and reports Key Performance Initiative (KPI).
• Leads team studies related to capacity, waste, productivity and efficiency.
• Ensure TPS standards and adherence are maintained.
• Leads analysis, development and implementation of new operations processes and technology.
• Champion Continuous Improvement Process initiatives across customer site.
• Ensure the transfer of best practices across customer sites.
• Execution of Customer projects / strategic initiative(s).
• Responsible for the education of all teams on the TPS methodology.

• 4 year degree in related discipline, required
• 5+ years of engineering experience, required
• Experience in distribution, logistics, project management, preferred
• Operations manager background, preferred
• Understanding of Toyota manufacturing way of working, preferred
