Job Title
General Nature of Work:
This position is responsible for administrative, technical, and supervisory work in planning, directing, and coordinating the activities, personnel, and resources of the Public Service Division. An employee in this class is responsible for the daily management and administration of the Public Service Division. Duties are performed under the limited direction of the Public Services Director.
Equipment &
Job Location:
This position requires general knowledge of office equipment, including personal computer and telephone. It also requires a thorough knowledge of the principles of public works construction techniques and familiarity with the operation of heavy equipment, light equipment, a variety of hand and garden tools, and automobiles. The primary work site is the Municipal Maintenance Facility and may include various locations throughout the City of Beavercreek.
Essential Functions - Examples of Duties:
- Plans, schedules, directs, and performs programs and activities of the Public Service Division of the Department of Public Services.
- Assists in developing short- and long-term goals for Public Service Division, in developing methodology for obtaining goals, and in monitoring
- Assists in preparing department budget and tracking performance against the
- Manages capital budget of equipment and facilities, including selection and
- Prepares and negotiates
- Completes division correspondence and
- Participate in union contract
- Administers employee disciplinary
- Administers labor contract grievances in accordance with City policies and labor contract provisions
Additional Examples of Work Performed:
- Trains departmental
- Maintains current knowledge of trends and developments in the field, and facilitates application of such to department policies and procedures as applicable.

Desirable Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Thorough knowledge of the operations and maintenance of buildings, grounds, streets, vehicles, equipment, traffic signs, and signals.
- Thorough knowledge of the occupational hazards and corresponding safety precautions necessary for the safe performance of assigned duties.
- Thorough knowledge of union labor contract provisions and
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City officials, supervisory personnel, and other City employees.
- Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with peers in adjoining communities and governmental agencies.
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written

Desirable Training and
Experience:
A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is desirable. In addition to the degree, candidates must possess a minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in public works administration, municipal operations, or related fields. This experience must include at least three (3) to five (5) years in a dedicated supervisory or leadership capacity.
Necessary Special Requirements:
- Must maintain a valid Ohio Driver's
- Ability to work other than normal working hours and various shifts as necessary.
