Description
The Distribution Center Supervisor is responsible for maintaining and consistently improving day‑to‑day floor operations to ensure the highest levels of customer satisfaction and production efficiencies. This includes meeting required deadlines and managing the controlled in‑flow and out‑flow of products.
Job DetailsShift: Friday – Sunday 6:00 AM – 6:30 PM
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Provide leadership and supervision to distribution team members within a specific functional area and/or process.
- Support the department manager and/or senior operations manager to ensure timely, accurate product receipt, order fulfillment, and the optimization of resources and processes.
- Manage team members to ensure compliance with policies and procedures, drive process improvement, and promote an environment where team members are engaged and committed to the Company’s success.
- Supervise daily operations in the functional area and lead team members until work is complete for the day.
- Maintain, refine, and improve processes within the area to meet customer requirements, including deadlines and quality standards.
- Manage day‑to‑day scheduling, staffing, material management, compliance, training, and auditing activities.
- Follow procedures set forth by Supply Chain Management on time and attendance.
- Create a positive and engaging working environment focused on DC metrics, including housekeeping standards integrated into daily processes.
- Emphasize safety and quality commitments for the department and ensure 100 % compliance with all processes and procedures.
- Understand the department’s DC processes and functions; identify key variables that influence workflow and implement changes to enhance optimization.
- Develop and implement performance measurements and internal auditing processes to evaluate operations efficiency and quality routinely.
- Deliver results in support of the company strategy and expectations.
- Supervise, train, and develop team members in non‑exempt positions; communicate coaching and corrective actions to ensure policy compliance while treating all team members fairly.
- Provide timely feedback and development to team members, including performance evaluations, recognition, and disciplinary action.
- Support and participate in hiring activities within the DC.
- Facilitate or lead various teams for safety, engagement, and improvement of DC processes.
- Meet departmental expectations to effectively drive results.
- Operate PIE for specific departments (e.g., machine picking/put away).
- Assist in managing financial accounts for department personnel (e.g., payroll, expenses).
- Adapts quickly to change and manages competing priorities effectively.
- Builds respectful and effective working relationships; collaborates to achieve common goals.
- Conveys information clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing; adjusts communication to the audience.
- Strives to meet or exceed expectations of internal and external customers.
- Demonstrates initiative as a self‑starter and takes on increased responsibility to enhance contribution.
- Displays a high degree of integrity, honesty, and responsibility; shows consistency between words and actions.
- Requires prolonged standing, repetitive motions, bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling.
- Must be able to lift and move furniture up to 150 pounds.
- Consistent, regular, scheduled attendance is essential.
- Warehouse type facility with normal environmental temperatures.
- Safety glasses and steel‐toe shoes required; additional safety equipment as needed.
- Work surfaces are primarily concrete.
- Education:
High school diploma required; college degree preferred. - Experience:
At least 5 years of warehouse/distribution center supervisory experience. - Computer proficiency: MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) or equivalent.
- Ability to train individuals in loading and warehousing operations.
- Dedicated to business and willing to adjust schedule as needed to manage the department.
- Leadership and supervisory experience with understanding of management principles.
- Understanding of general warehouse and distribution work practices, including order picking, packing, and shipping processes.
- Knowledge of coaching and counseling staff.
