DATA CENTER CONSTRUCTION PMO MANAGER

Ohio Site

Location: Lordstown, Ohio, United States (Full On-Site at Data Center Construction Campus)

Reports To: Director of Construction / VP of Project Delivery

Department: Project Management Office (PMO)

Employment Type: Full-time, Exempt

Pay: $ - $ per year

1. Overview

We are seeking an experienced Data Center Construction PMO Manager to lead the Project Management Office for our hyperscale/mission-critical data center construction project in Ohio. This senior leadership role will oversee all Project Managers (PMs), construction engineers (civil, structural, MEP, electrical, mechanical), and cross‑functional teams to ensure the successful, on‑time, on‑budget, and high‑quality delivery of the entire project.

You will establish and mature PMO governance, standardized processes, reporting frameworks, and tools to manage complex, multi‑phase campus development with overlapping work streams. The role requires deep expertise in data center construction (power, cooling, redundancy, commissioning) and strong people leadership to drive accountability across contractors, designers, and stakeholders while maintaining the highest safety and quality standards.

This role will initially support a 6‑month data center construction project based in Lordstown, Ohio, with a strong pipeline of follow‑on projects nationwide. This is not a short‑term assignment — upon successful completion of the first project, you will transition directly to subsequent projects, offering long‑term career stability and growth.

2. Duties
  • Team Leadership & Oversight: Directly manage, mentor, and develop a team of Project Managers, Construction Engineers, and technical specialists. Provide direction on resource allocation, performance management, and professional development.
  • Project Governance & Controls: Establish and enforce PMO standards, templates, change control processes, risk registers, and escalation protocols. Implement earned value management (EVM), schedule variance analysis, and cost control across all phases.
  • Overall Project Progress Management: Own the master project schedule (Primavera P6 or equivalent), budget tracking, milestone reporting, and integrated progress dashboards. Identify risks/delays early and drive mitigation plans.
  • Multi‑Stakeholder Coordination: Serve as the primary PMO interface with the General Contractor (GC), A/E design teams, client/owner representatives, major vendors, and local Ohio authorities for permitting, inspections, and compliance.
  • Data Center‑Specific Delivery: Oversee work streams including site development, structural erection, electrical infrastructure (MV switch gear, UPS, generators, PDUs), mechanical systems (chillers, CRAH/CRAC units), fire/life safety, security, raised floor, and integrated systems testing/commissioning.
  • Reporting & Communication: Prepare and deliver executive‑level progress reports, dashboards, and presentations (weekly/monthly). Conduct regular PMO meetings, site walks, and stakeholder reviews.
  • Risk, Quality & Safety: Lead proactive risk identification and mitigation. Ensure strict adherence to OSHA standards, Ohio building/environmental codes, and data center best practices (Uptime Institute Tier standards, ASHRAE guidelines). Champion a zero‑incident safety culture.
  • Process Improvement & PMO Maturation: Continuously improve PMO methodologies, tools (Procore, Bluebeam, BIM 360, MS Project/P6), and lessons‑learned processes. Support claims management, subcontractor performance oversight, and successful project handover to operations.
  • Resource & Change Management: Manage scope changes, RFIs, submittals, and resource leveling across multiple overlapping phases of the campus build‑out.
3. Must‑Haves as the PMO Manager
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 10–12 years of progressive construction project management experience, with at least 5–7 years specifically in data…
