Metallurgical Technician – Day Shift
Position OverviewThis Metallurgical Technician prepares test samples, performs metallurgical testing, completes analysis, and reports results on a variety of materials using defined processes and techniques.
Responsibilities- Prepare test samples and perform metallurgical testing.
- Conduct mechanical and metallographic testing, including Optical Microscopy, Tensile Testing, Hardness Testing, and CTE equipment.
- Assist in developing new or modified procedures.

B operators in basic skills, guide work, and check results. - Prepare Precision Elastic Limit (PEL) test bars by etching, measuring, installing strain gauges, and performing testing.
- Make precision measurements with micrometers, microscope, stage micrometers, electrical temperature instruments while conducting tensile property testing.
- Evaluate metallurgical samples for cleanliness, heat‑treated condition, and grain size using various methods.
- Perform CTE and Magnetic Permeability testing.
- Report analytical results directly to the requesting laboratory service within supervisor’s limitations.
- Maintain laboratory quality systems and assist in writing procedures as requested.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in the metals or materials field, preferably as a metallurgical technician.
- Alternatively, 1 year technical laboratory experience combined with at least 2 years of college‑level laboratory experience, with proficiency in any two of: metal sample preparation, mechanical testing, tensile testing, or metallography.
- Working knowledge of SAP and Microsoft products.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Self‑motivated, proactive, and able to initiate action without direction.
- Ability to multi‑task and prioritize as required.
The selection of the person to be hired for this position is contingent on export compliance eligibility for access to U.S. controlled technology under ITAR and EAR. Qualified candidates must be U.S. citizens or nationals, lawful permanent residents, persons admitted as asylees or refugees, nationals of a non‑prohibited country, or eligible for an export license. Approval of an export license must be obtained in a time frame consistent with the company’s business requirements.
