Mobile Equipment Manufacturing Specialist

The Mobile Equipment Manufacturing Specialist will oversee the assembly and rebuilding of Mobile Manufacturing Unit (MMU) beds, ensuring that all work meets quality, safety, and production standards. In this supervisory capacity, the role is responsible for coordinating daily build activities, managing schedules, and directing team members to achieve on‑time project completion. The position will also ensure proper sourcing and availability of parts, troubleshoot operational issues, and collaborate with engineering to support continuous improvement initiatives.

The Mobile Equipment Manufacturing Specialist will report directly to the Bulk Equipment Systems Manager.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

* Utilize CAD software to create new designs or modify existing fabrication models, ensuring accuracy and alignment with production requirements.

* Develop and maintain detailed assembly instructions and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

* Develop and direct daily and weekly workflow plans, assigning tasks and adjusting priorities to meet build schedules efficiently.

* Track build progress using the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).

* Develop and maintain KPIs to report cost, quality, and schedule performance.

* Develop and maintain standards for labeling, storage, organization, and tracking to minimize downtime and maintain workflow efficiency.

* Oversee inventory management and ensure timely replenishment to prevent excess or shortages of inventory.

* Respond promptly to schedule changes driven by customer demand.

* Provide direct supervision, coaching, and support to department employees to help achieve personal and career development goals.

* Interpret mechanical and electrical schematics to develop accurate assembly plans.

* Reinforce 5S standards and promote a culture of continuous improvement through the workplace.

* Work with various suppliers in obtaining competitive quotes to ensure cost‑effective purchasing that meets quality expectations.

* Monitor assembly times and labor to analyze costs, identify inefficiencies, and implement strategies to reduce costs while improving quality.

* Ability to work various hours and to work overtime occasionally to support production deadlines and ensure timely project completion.

Education and Experience

* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).

* 3+ years of experience in a mechanical, maintenance, or shop environment preferred.

* Experience in supervising teams in an assembly or mechanical setting.

* Industrial, explosive, or chemical manufacturing experience preferred.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

* Familiar with CAD software (e.g., Solid Works, AutoCAD).

* Familiar with Lean manufacturing principles and 5S implementation.

* Strong supervisory skills with the ability to motivate and drive employees.

* Strong planning and time‑management capabilities to meet deadlines and maintain schedules.

* Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

* Effective problem‑solving abilities to identify issues and implement cost‑effective, quality‑driven solutions.

* Understanding of general maintenance procedures and techniques.

* Ability to effectively communicate with various departments and team members, including contractors and suppliers.

* Ability to use various hand & power tools.

* Familiar with CMMS software and other required applications.

* Possess basic Microsoft Word & Excel skills.

* Possess basic math skills and reading & comprehension skills.

* Strong commitment to safety and to utilizing Stop Work Authority.

* Ability to wear and work in required personal protective equipment (PPE).

* Ability to climb ladders and stairs, lift and carry up to 50 lbs, and work at heights.

* Ability to bend, stoop, stand, and walk for long periods of time.

Work Environment
