The Material Handler is responsible for loading dried distillers' grains, ethanol, corn oil, wet cake feed, distiller’s syrup, or biomass into trucks and rail cars. The role is on‑site, located in Fostoria, OH.
- Load trucks and rail cars with feed and fuel products using mechanical equipment, meters and scales.
- Assist with unloading functions for grain products or biomass.
- Complete grading of grain products or biomass using provided training.
- Operate large machinery and equipment; DOT certification may be required.
- Maintain a clean work area and enter bins according to confined‑space procedures.
- Complete HAZMAT paperwork when necessary.
- Perform preventive maintenance and troubleshoot equipment.
- Work outdoors, on weekends and holidays, and meet call‑in requirements.
- Assist with the bioprocessing facility scale house and learn required software applications.
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold safety and environmental compliance.
- Promote a culture of safety, teamwork and community representation.
- High school diploma or equivalent (required).
- No prior experience required for Material Handler I; documented performance as a Material Handler I or equivalent work experience is required for Material Handler II.
- Preferred experience in operating heavy machinery, skid loaders, or other material‑moving equipment.
- Preferred truck loading and unloading experience, including rail tank cars and tanker trucks.
- DOT certification preferred.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn new programs.
- High level of personal integrity.
- Strong interpersonal skills, able to interact with individuals at all levels.
- Demonstrated problem‑solving and critical‑thinking skills.
- Ability to embrace and promote change and innovate.
- Excellent organizational, time‑management, and communication skills.
- Team‑oriented approach with ability to work in a team environment.
- Must wear PPE (hard hat, gloves, safety glasses, steel‑toed boots, etc.).
- Work at extreme heights (approx. 150 ft), in confined spaces, and in temperatures ranging from ‑20 to +100 °F.
- Use various hand tools, skid loader, scoop shovels, pipe wrenches, impact wrench, and other equipment.
- Operate machinery such as payloader and Track mobile for extended periods.
- Grip, lift, and move up to 120 lbs with or without assistance.
- Undergo random drug and alcohol testing.
