Job Description

Essential job functions include ensuring product launch objectives, project capital needs, and customer requirements are met on time while adhering to strict safety protocols. The plant manager is responsible for plant performance in manufacturing, customer satisfaction, continuous improvement, quality, and delivery of products, and for maintaining quality and environmental certifications. The role involves coaching and training plant personnel, setting, evaluating and inspiring individual and team goals, and fostering a positive "get-it-done" culture.

Strategic, situational leadership is required to plan, direct and manage the entire operation, ensuring the development and implementation of efficient operational processes that meet current and future business requirements. The manager will organize and manage plant operation/production teams to meet designated targets and objectives, design practical processes and procedures that ensure accountability and KPI oversight, and create initiatives that drive optimization and improvements in overall operations performance, input, throughput and outputs.

The manager works with plant managers to collect and analyze data, improve manufacturing capacity, schedule, plan, organize, direct, and run day‑to‑day operations that meet or exceed internal expectations. The manager implements and maintains preventative maintenance programs, incorporates production floor organization and plant cleanliness, and applies extensive knowledge of business and management principles, such as budgeting, production planning, material flow, inventory management, resource allocation and human resource planning.

The manager increases production, asset capacity and flexibility while minimizing costs, maintaining quality standards, and implementing cost‑effective systems of control over capital, operating expenditures, manpower, wages and salaries. The manager establishes and implements short‑ and long‑range department goals, policies and operating procedures, monitors overall plant performance for production and quality standards, and provides direction, development and leadership for all operational departments.

The manager coordinates the scheduling and inventory activities with schedulers and/or materials managers, champions plant safety policies, manages safety committees, analyzes ERP system information, encourages open communication at all levels and serves as the key point of management to employees.
