Location: Coldwater

The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and guiding the daily operations of the production team to ensure a safe and efficient production shift producing products that meet all quality and customer requirements in alignment with company goals. This role involves managing production activities, supervising team members, troubleshooting operational issues, enforcing policies, and maintaining a culture of continuous improvement.

Leadership & People Development:
  • Empowering Leadership
    :
    Direct, inspire, and develop machine operators, material handlers, and setup technicians to work safely, efficiently, and in compliance with quality standards. Actively champion a culture of continuous learning and positive team member engagement.

    :
    Foster a positive and highly collaborative work environment. Proactively monitor and enhance team morale, drive 5S and housekeeping engagement initiatives, and build a culture of mutual accountability and trust.
  • Talent Development & Mentorship

    Conduct regular training, coaching, and career development discussions to enhance skills in plastics processing (such as setups, processing parameters, and auxiliary equipment operation). Provide constructive, real-time feedback and conduct performance evaluations centered on growth.
  • Communication & Conflict Resolution

    Serve as the primary advocate for clear communication of job expectations and shift goals. Facilitate open dialogue, resolve team conflicts constructively, and bridge communication between technical process technicians and machine operators.
Operational & Process Support:
  • Safety Leadership: Champion adherence to safety protocols, OSHA regulations, and environmental guidelines regarding plastics and high-pressure systems. Lead by example in identifying hazards, conducting transparent accident investigations, and involving the team in developing preventative safety solutions.
  • Quality Mentorship & Defect Reduction: Oversee the implementation of quality control programs. Coach team members on utilizing metrics and statistical process controls to identify and troubleshoot common issues.
  • Collaborative Production Management: Partner with the team to oversee job setups, efficient changeovers, and monitor production efficiency. Empower operators to identify process bottlenecks, suggest cycle-time improvements, and actively participate in reducing scrap and process waste.
  • Continuous Improvement & Innovation: Collaborate with maintenance and process engineering teams to address processing inefficiencies. Involving the crew in continuous improvement initiatives, and root cause analyses to eliminate waste.
  • Process & Equipment Optimization: Work alongside engineering and maintenance to optimize production setups, reduce downtime, and improve machine efficiency while training team members on advanced equipment troubleshooting and basic preventive maintenance.
  • Administrative Oversight: Ensure the accurate and timely completion of shift records, attendance, raw material usage, and quality check sheets. Utilize these metrics not just for reporting to management, but as coaching tools to discuss shift performance and yield with the team.
Technical Requirements:
  • Machine Operation
    :
    Working understanding in the setup, operation, and troubleshooting of plastic production machinery/equipment
  • Troubleshooting Skills
    :
    Ability to troubleshoot simple mechanical, electrical, and process-related issues in production equipment and communicate issues to maintenance and/or engineering in an intelligent manner. Basic knowledge/understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems in manufacturing equipment.
  • Quality Control Tools
    :
    Experience with quality control tools such as calipers, micrometers, and optical measuring systems. Ability to interpret product specifications and ensure conformity during production runs.
  • Statistical Process Control (SPC):
    Experience with statistical process control methods, such as control charts and process optimization techniques, to monitor and maintain production quality.
