Overview
Assembler of school, activity, and commercial buses.
Position SummaryUnder the general supervision of the Weld Supervisor, the Welder performs tasks required to prep school and commercial bus chassis. This position is part of our chassis upfit team and will work with the team to prep chassis and assemble/fabricate components and sub-assemblies. In addition, this position will perform mechanical and electrical work to chassis and completed bus bodies. The position requires a strong automotive mechanical background and MIG welding.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Welding on frame extensions
- Modify or replace exhaust systems
- Suspension upgrades
- Installation of electrical and HVAC wiring and hoses
Pay is commensurate with experience.
Qualifications- High School Diploma or GED
- 1–3 years of experience and/or training in automotive troubleshooting/repairs (desired)
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience in Production, Assembly, or Light Manufacturing (desired)
- AWS Welding Certification (desired)
- Self‑starter who can work independently with little supervision
- Good time management skills
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics
- Ownership of assigned responsibilities and ability to complete work correctly and timely
- Proactive and positive team approach to problem resolution
- Ability to establish strong working relationships with co‑workers and management
- Use common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
- Long and varied hours occasionally required.

- Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb or balance.
- Lifts and/or moves 20–25 pounds regularly; occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 25 pounds.
- Requires close vision and ability to adjust focus.
