The Operator 1 supports the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of a reciprocating engine‑based power generation facility consisting of multiple engine‑generator units and associated balance‑of‑plant systems.
This position is responsible for the day‑to‑day operations and monitoring on engine‑generator packages, mechanical equipment, auxiliary systems, and plant support equipment. The Operator 1 will work closely with site Shift Supervisor, I&E Technicians, Maintenance Technicians, OEM representatives, contractors, and vendors to support plant operations availability, equipment reliability, commissioning, startup, shutdown and outage planning.
The role requires strong operational aptitude, safe work practices, attention to detail, and the ability to troubleshoot and identify issues in a high‑reliability power generation environment.
Primary Duties/Responsibilities- Start, stop, and monitor all the engine‑generator packages, including their auxiliary equipment within the OEM design parameters.
- Monitor and adjust related set points within OEM guidelines to optimize plant performance and reliability.
- Attend OEM training sessions to better understand the operational requirements and capabilities of the units.
- Perform housekeeping duties as required.
- High School Diploma/GED is required.
- Some experience in a related position and environment preferred.
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend English (operational, process, safety and quality instructions).
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Must be able to serve rotational 24 hour emergency on‑call if required by site.
- Possess a valid driver's license and a safe driving record.
- Pass a drug test and a criminal background check.
- Class B CDL Driver License is not required but will be considered first in line for this position.
Hourly rate starts at $35.00
