The Production Supervisor will be responsible for the safe manufacture of company products across a diverse range of manufacturing processes. The role ensures quality and productivity requirements are met cost‑effectively while enforcing safety, quality, 6S, and process standards. Direct involvement includes hiring, training, discipline, and performance reviews for production employees.
Essential Functions- Safely manufacture a quality product while meeting customer specifications and delivery commitments.
- Practice and follow 6S principles daily, maintaining housekeeping excellence.
- Ensure all safety requirements, including the Cardinal Rules of Safety, are followed by every employee.
- Maintain current, accurate SOPs and engineering procedures; enforce them consistently.
- Schedule employees to meet production needs, ensuring vacation/time‑off aligns with plant policies.
- Supervise and coach employees to meet or exceed daily product metrics and goals.
- Adhere to process control procedures, operating instructions, and quality‐control instructions.
- Manage operational metrics such as TOC, variable cost, and LU targets on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
- Communicate daily production needs and plant communications to employees.
- Control quality, delivery, cost of production, work‑in‑process levels, and monitor production throughput.
- Provide input on design and installation of equipment for new manufacturing processes.
- Resolve technical and personnel problems positively with employees.
- Maintain and enhance a team environment that motivates the production workforce.
- Troubleshoot and provide cost‑effective resolutions to production problems.
- Maintain thorough knowledge of all production processes and materials.
- Control costs to manufacture, work‑in‑process inventory, and throughput.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Experience in production operations supervision and management.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities, adapting to changing situations.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including off‑shifts, weekends, and holidays, to meet production demands.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Highly organized, self‑motivated, and effective in a collaborative team environment.
- Strategic vision for new and future technology to support manufacturing and operational excellence.
- Continuous Improvement, Lean Manufacturing, and Six Sigma certification.
- Background and experience with 6S implementation and management.
- Proven ability to work hands‑on with the team to achieve objectives.
- Minimum 3 years of industrial supervisory or similar leadership experience.
- Prefer 3+ years of experience in operations in a manufacturing environment.
- Extensive training in manufacturing processes, supervision, and operations management.
