We Need A Top-Notch CNC Operator. Looking for CNC Operator jobs in Montpelier where dependable work keeps production moving? This opportunity lets you operate manufacturing equipment, monitor product quality, and help produce consistent results in a safe, fast-paced production environment. We are seeking an experienced CNC Lathe Machinist to set up and operate CNC machines in a high-production manufacturing environment.
This role is responsible for machine setup, troubleshooting programs, performing inspections, maintaining quality standards, and ensuring safe production operations.
High school diploma or GED preferred. Technical training or manufacturing education is beneficial.
Experience RequirementsPrevious CNC lathe setup and operation experience Ability to read and interpret blueprints and route instructions Experience applying GD&T principles Knowledge of calipers, gauges, micrometers, and measuring equipment Familiarity with machining practices, tooling, fixtures, and metal materials Experience with Okuma, Mazak, and Mori machines preferred Strong basic math and documentation skills Ability to troubleshoot programs and make machine adjustments
Job DutiesSet up and operate CNC lathes for turning, drilling, bar feeding, and live tooling applications Optimize machine setups and maintain production efficiency Read blueprints and work instructions to produce quality parts Perform in-process inspections and report quality concerns Troubleshoot machining programs and adjust offsets as needed Coordinate with production and quality teams to resolve issues Complete shift documentation and communicate production updates Perform daily preventive maintenance checks
Preferred QualificationsPrevious machine operation, manufacturing, production, or industrial experience is preferred. Experience performing machine setup, tooling changes, troubleshooting, or preventative maintenance is beneficial. Knowledge of Lean manufacturing, quality systems, or continuous improvement practices is considered an asset. Individuals who demonstrate mechanical ability, reliability, teamwork, and a commitment to quality are well positioned for success as a CNC Operator.
Physical CapabilitiesAbility to stand, walk, bend, and perform repetitive production tasks throughout the shift. Ability to lift materials, components, or finished products weighing up to 50 pounds. Ability to safely operate manufacturing equipment while maintaining awareness of moving machinery. Ability to wear required personal protective equipment and work safely in a manufacturing environment.
