Guided by the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, we're committed to building strong partnerships that honour and celebrate our rich cultural heritage.

The Opportunity- Te āheinga
This is your chance to step into a key digital role at the heart of how New Plymouth District Council connects with its community.
As our Digital Adviser, you’ll join our award-winning team and lead the creation and delivery of engaging, audience‑focused content across our social media channels and digital platforms. From capturing moments at major events to shaping how we show up online every day, you’ll play a central role in telling the stories of our district.
You’ll be responsible for managing high-profile channels, planning and delivering content that balances proactive storytelling with real‑time responsiveness, and using data and insights to continually improve performance. Alongside this, you’ll provide trusted advice to teams across Council, helping lift digital capability and ensure campaigns are integrated, effective, and aligned to our wider strategy.
This role offers a strong mix of hands‑on content creation and strategic influence. While your primary focus will be social and content, you’ll also have the opportunity to contribute to broader digital activity, including supporting paid campaigns and website content alongside our wider team.
Because our business units host events outside of standard business hours, flexibility is essential. This role requires occasional evening and weekend work to support events and ensure successful delivery of marketing and communications activities.
