Spring Hills Community Church is a small, rural, Bible-believing church in southeast Ohio, affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention. We are seeking a part-time senior pastor with the following qualifications & skills. The major responsibilities expected of the senior pastor are also included. The Senior Pastor serves as the spiritual leader of the church and is responsible for spiritual leadership, pastoral care, and overall administration, in accordance with Spring Hills Community Church by-laws. The Senior Pastor’s overall responsibility, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, is to lead members and attenders to a closer and deeper relationship with God, and as such this role requires a deep commitment to faith, effective preaching, strong leadership, and a passion for guiding the congregation in spiritual growth.
We are looking for a candidate who conforms to the qualifications found in 1 Timothy 3:1-7;
Titus 1:5-9; 1 Peter 5:1-5.
Qualifications & Skills
- A deep commitment to Jesus Christ and His gospel.
- A deep understanding of and commitment to the Bible and Christian theology
- Bachelor’s degree in Theology, Divinity, or a related field (or an equivalent combination of education and experience.)
- Strong public speaking and communication skills
- Strong leadership skills, with a passion for empowering others and fostering a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
- Proficient in conflict resolution and pastoral care
- Experience in pastoral ministry or church leadership
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
- Ability to articulate and embody the mission, vision, and values of the church
Key Responsibilities
- Nurture personal relationship with Jesus through regular spiritual disciplines
- Provide spiritual leadership, biblical guidance, and pastoral care to the congregation, fostering a culture of faith, love, and service.
- Develop and deliver engaging, biblically-based weekly sermons during worship services, as well as on special occasions and events.
- Plan and lead services, collaborating with the worship team, and ensuring that services are meaningful and spiritually enriching.
- Facilitate effective communication and collaboration among staff, volunteers, and congregants to promote a unified church culture (including conflict resolution)
- Collaborate with ministry leaders to establish goals, develop action plans, and assess progress towards church objectives (including church growth and leadership development)
- Facilitate and encourage spiritual growth and discipleship through the development and implementation of small group ministries, Bible studies, and other educational programs. This includes helping people discover their spiritual gifts.
- Facilitate pastoral care for members of the congregation, including visiting the sick, counseling those in need, and offering support during times of crisis.
- Serve as the leader in seeking to win the unsaved and unchurched; lead the membership in soul winning training.
- Engage and build relationships within the local community, participating in outreach and mission activities, and collaborating with other organizations to address community needs.
- Perform other pastoral duties, including weddings, funerals, baptisms, and dedications, as required.
