Healthy Harvest Corps (HHC) is an Ameri Corps program administered by the Ohio Association of Foodbanks as part of a coordinated statewide effort to expand and sustain Food Is Medicine initiatives. These initiatives recognize access to healthy food as a critical component of improving health outcomes and overall well-being. Ameri Corps volunteers will play an important role in addressing hunger as a social determinant of health by supporting programs that connect individuals and families with nutritious food resources.

Through the Healthy Harvest Corps program, OAF will place 13 Ameri Corps members at 8 host sites across Ohio to support Food Is Medicine initiatives and strengthen community-based hunger relief efforts. This position is located at SE Ohio Foodbank & Kitchen in Logan, OH. The SE Ohio Foodbank, a HAPCAP program, works to reduce food insecurity and empower people facing hunger in SE Ohio.

One in six individuals faces hunger. Everything we do focuses on getting healthy food to communities - from sourcing food donations to advocating for policies that end hunger. SE Ohio has some of the highest food insecurity rates in the state. The SE Ohio Foodbank is a member of Feeding America and serves ten counties in Southeast Ohio, including Athens, Gallia, Hocking, Jackson, Lawrence, Meigs, Morgan, Perry, Vinton, and Washington Counties.

Member Duties : SE Ohio Foodbank is recruiting two Healthy Harvest Corps Ameri Corps Members for distinct roles advancing "food as medicine" initiatives across Southeast Ohio. One position centers on healthcare partnerships and community referrals, connecting neighbors with food access, social services, and healthcare resources through outreach, screenings, closed-loop referral systems, and partnerships with healthcare providers and Medicaid organizations. The second position focuses on the Food Rx medically supportive grocery box program, coordinating food packing and distribution, inventory management, participant communication, and nutrition-focused food selection using Healthy Eating Research guidelines.

Both roles engage directly with community members through mobile markets, school pantries, and outreach events while building experience in public health, nutrition, community engagement, communication, and program operations.
