Pastor

Crown Hill Mennonite Church is seeking a full time pastor to work alongside the Elders and Leadership Team to shepherd our congregation through this current time of transition and into the years to come.

• Preach the Word of God as the primary preacher for weekly worship services
• Rooted in strong Biblical knowledge and based in Anabaptist theology
• Relatable to a range of ages of the congregation
• Applicable to everyday life
• Assist in planning weekly worship services
• Encourage the congregation toward efforts that advance the gospel
• Offer pastoral leadership to the congregation
• Facilitate Bible Study and prayer meetings while encouraging/training congregation members to lead as well

• Be passionate about reaching and discipling the next generation of leaders
• Visit those in the hospital and nursing homes
• Perform marriages and funerals
• Administer the Lord's Supper
• Offer Biblical Counsel to those who request it (2 Timothy 4:2)
• Help facilitate outreach events and follow up processes
• Teach doctrine to those wishing to be baptized

• Attend monthly meetings with the Elders and Leadership Team
• Engage in strategic planning and vision development with the church leadership
• Support church teams in guiding ministry programs
• Keep records of births, deaths, marriages and membership
• Work with administrative assistant to produce weekly newsletter

• Be known for purity and an example of faithfulness
• Represent the qualifications listed in 1 Timothy:3:1-7
• Demonstrate ministerial training and a sound understanding of biblical doctrine and practice, including a knowledge of Anabaptist faith
• Be competent in administrative, managerial, and technological skills
• Participate in periodic performance evaluations initiated by the Elders/Leadership team

• Be willing to affirm the Evana Network Personal Covenant
• Keep the church informed of developments in The Evana Network and attend meetings/conferences or delegate others to do so
• Participate in educational opportunities to enhance ministerial understanding and abilities
• Work with the congregation to identify, develop and organize ministry opportunities to build community within the church and the greater community

Crown Hill Mennonite Church is located near the city of Rittman in beautiful Wayne County, OH. Within a 45 minute drive you can be in neighboring Holmes County, home to the second largest Amish community in the United States, or in Cleveland, with all the theaters, arts, and professional sports teams of the big city. Crown Hill Mennonite Church celebrated our 200th anniversary in 2025.

We are newly affiliated with the Evana Network of Churches.

Crown Hill Mennonite is a dynamic mixture of young families and older adults with an average weekly attendance of about 50. Our Sunday morning service utilizes a mixture of worship styles. Some weeks we worship primarily through hymns, and other weeks we are led by a more contemporary worship team with guitar, keyboard, and percussion. Following the worship service, we have Sunday School classes for adults and children. We currently have 2 children’s classes for preschool and elementary aged children, and 3 adult classes grouped loosely by age. Midweek activities include a prayer group that meets on Thursday afternoons and a women’s Bible study meeting on Saturday mornings.

One of our biggest ministries is a monthly food pantry operating since 2005 in partnership with the Akron Canton Regional Food Bank. This serves approximately 100 families (300 individuals) every month. We also own and operate Crown Hill Manor, a 17 unit affordable living apartment building which adjoins the church property.

At Crown Hill Mennonite, we feel we are entering an exciting time for our church with young members that are eager to help lead the church into the future alongside our steady, more seasoned members. We are excited to welcome a new pastor who will help guide us in this process and beyond.
