Duration: Minimum 6 months from projected start date
Hours: 40 hours per week
Shift Length: 13-hour shifts
Schedule Requirements- This is not a PRN position. The schedule will be assigned on the first day.
- Candidates must be available for any of the following schedules and remain flexible, as shifts may change based on facility needs:
- Sunday, Thursday, Friday: 6:10 AM - 7:30 PM
- Wednesday, Friday, Sunday: 6:10 AM - 7:30 PM
- Tuesday, Friday, Saturday: 11:10 AM - 12:30 PM
- Flexibility with days and hours is required.
The Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care within a state-operated institutional setting. Responsibilities include delivering direct patient care, administering medications and treatments, responding to medical emergencies, and maintaining accurate documentation.
Role & Responsibilities- Provide professional nursing care to inmates/patients in a correctional or institutional setting.
- Observe, assess, and document patient symptoms, reactions, and progress.
- Conduct nursing rounds and record vital signs.
- Administer prescribed medications, treatments, and immunizations.
- Monitor patients in restricted or isolated settings and provide emergency medical care as required.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.
- IV therapy.
- Wound care.
- Oxygen therapy.
- Dialysis.
- Blood transfusions.
- CPR.
- Tube feeding.
- Catheterization.
- Suctioning.
- Phlebotomy.
- Organize and oversee emergency response (Code Blue).
- Direct and supervise assigned healthcare staff as needed.
- Assist physicians with diagnostic evaluations.
- Maintain accurate documentation of medications, treatments, and incidents.
- Monitor and maintain inventory of medications, including controlled substances.
- Order medical supplies and equipment.
- Coordinate outside appointments and prescription services.
- Participate in staff development and training initiatives.
- Serve on committees or problem-solving teams as assigned.
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio.
- Knowledge of professional nursing procedures and applicable state and federal regulations.
- Ability to operate medical equipment (e.g., blood pressure cuff, EKG machine, otoscope, stethoscope).
- Strong documentation and reporting skills.
- Ability to maintain physical fitness required for institutional environment.
