- 7:30 a.m. + on call with every other weekend and holiday rotation requirements.

The Level III Labor and Delivery Unit at Hillcrest Hospital helps bring more than 4,800 newborns into the world every year. Additionally, this floor houses a high‑risk antepartum area, featuring nine designated beds, a Cord Blood Center (CBC) and a birthing tub. As an RN, you will assist fellow caregivers in providing patients with exceptional care, from initial admission to discharge with baby.

You will also benefit from education in comprehensive electronic fetal monitoring, breastfeeding support and Kangaroo Care alongside a dedicated team of Maternal‑Fetal Physicians and Certified Nurse Midwives.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct nursing care.
  • Implement and monitor patient care plans.
  • Monitor, record and communicate patients’ conditions.
  • Evaluate, update and revise plan of care to facilitate achievement of planned and expected outcomes.
  • Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
  • Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.
  • Educate patients and family with educational materials considering cultural issues and other special concerns.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatment in accordance with approved nursing protocol.
Qualifications
  • Graduate from an accredited School of Professional Nursing (Diploma, ADN or BSN program).
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross.
  • One year of current acute care RN experience OR military RN experience.
  • Preferred:
    Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN).
  • In‑patient bedside patient experience.
  • Pediatric experience.
  • Labor & Delivery experience.
Physical Requirements
  • Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye‑hand coordination.
  • Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
  • Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
  • Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
  • Medium Work – Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
Personal Protective Equipment
  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
