Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated Licensed Practical Nurse ( LPN) to join our care team for the 2nd shift. As an LPN at Gallipolis Developmental Center, you will deliver essential nursing care and ensure a safe, respectful, and therapeutic environment for individuals with developmental disabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide skilled practical nursing care in accordance with Ohio Revised Code Sections 4723.01 to 4723.40 Perform clinical procedures: vital signs, wound care, oxygen administration, catheter insertion, suctioning, G- tube reinsertion, enemas, medication administration ( oral, rectal, topical, inhalation, subcutaneous, IM), enteral feedings, and specimen collection Document observations, interventions, and care accurately and completely Administer and track controlled and non- controlled medications Respond to medical emergencies, administer CPR, and utilize AED as necessary Communicate patient needs and status updates to Registered Nurse or Physician Maintain accurate and up- to- date medical records and logs ( e.
g., MARs, incident reports, restraint logs, infection control) Assist with clerical duties such as answering phones, filing, and maintaining supply inventory Train and support direct care staff in providing basic unskilled nursing care Attend medical appointments and participate in care team meetings Uphold infection control protocols and ensure cleanliness of medical work spaces
Qualifications:
Current Ohio LPN license in good standing CPR certification ( or ability to obtain upon hire) Previous experience in a long- term care or developmental disability setting preferred Strong documentation, communication, and time- management skills Ability to work a rotating schedule including weekends Observe patients and nursing care Providing licensed nursing care to residents Render nursing care to residents Provide direct skilled nursing care Provide general nursing care to patients Becoming a licensed practical nurse Ensure that appropriate nursing care Assisting physician/nurse practitioner in direct patient care functions Provide direct nursing care to residents Providing basic patient care or treatments Providing basic patient care or treatments Provide nursing care on shift Assess resident needs, provide nursing care, evaluate nursing care, administer medications and complete treatments Plan, and deliver nursing care Supervise other nursing and nursing paraprofessional personnel in patient care Sign all medication orders with the medication nurse to prevent medication errors Provide nursing care for residents under clinical supervision Provide basic nursing care under the supervision of a registered nurse Using nursing skills to provide quality patient care Ensure that nursing care documentation is
